Some of those indy darlings just aren't as good as we originally thought. For all the love Cesaro gets people love to ignore how luke warm of a reception he gets from most fans. His matches are dope, but his character is bland as fukk.
This by a thousand
I may shyt on guys but I never understand why people act like they aren't shyt on able
Cesaro is not better then majority of the mid card jiggas from the early 2000s simply because he is boring as dog food and can't cut a compelling promo to save a segment or his life
Owens is miles better then most of the guys but he's built like a can of vernors. Add his charisma to cesaro and you got a beast. Hats basically what Aj styles is, a guy whose in better shape then dudes half his age at Owens height yet can or work everyone in the world and arguably majority of the 90s guys hat have been propped up.
Rollins has all the tools to be great yet he's still only seen as regular by comparison. 6'1, great shape, can wrestle multiple styles, decent on the mic, yet nothin about him transcends despite being given more booking wise then mos guys. It is a testament to greatness that 87 year old Chris Jericho is more compelling then nearly everyone on the roster today simply with just a scarf, a list, and a microphone
You could put styles, Bryan, punk, Jericho, etc in any role on any partner of the card and they captivate and entertain you to no ends
Punk on commentary? Hilarious and witty
Jericho hosting a tv show segment? Show stealing
Bryan as a non performing gym? Great
Give dolph Cesaro any one of these segments and its average or even trash
