Dual income is another thing that's been overlooked in this thread.

Making 50k but paying 1300 for a 1bdrm condo, 400 a month for a car more and insurance

Or making 40 k and paying 650 as you split with your girl and all the expenses.

So many variables

Not about how much you make but how much you spend. If you can pay all of your bills and slurge with 1/2 your pay while being able to save the rest then you're good to go.

I know people that make 100k a year with little saved and are 2 checks way from being assed out because of high rent, car note, insurance, golf club memberships, impulse shopping sprees, eating out all the time, and balling out trying to impress friends. Then I know someone making 40k a year, lives with his girl, car paid for, saves and goes on vacations to the Caribbean every summer. He only got 1 credit card and it has a zero balance at the beginning of each month.

At the end of the day people learn to spend what they have. Some people spend it all and take on unnecessary debt while others save.

Word. If you grew up poor than $12 and hour or 40K a year is "paper" but some of us would commit that if we made that kind of paper.

shyt, I find it hard enough being in corporate America knowing that people I work with make $$$$$$$ only because they been around since the 70s

That's a big jump honestly

$12 an hour will only having you seeing about 25K a year. 40K a year is more like $19-20 an hour...

That's what transit is for.

Having a car is not mandatory.

Housing and transportation will be the primary expenses most people have.

There are ways to cut both, roommate or bus, or buy a cheaper car .

Having a luxury car and glass window condo with maintenance fees in the hundreds every month is not mandatory to the enjoyment of life.

Not true. In some areas u need a car. Or not having a car is an extreme set back.

I live outside of Toronto now and I used to live in West Virgina. I am making 30k more now and things are alright. But down there, when I was making 30k less than what I'm making now I was living like a king.

It's all location.

Im in dallas...make roughly 75 give or take a couple thousand with OT and bonuses. Its really all about how much debt you got and the lifestyle you want to live [portray]. I live in whats considered one of the nicest areas in the city but for the first couple of months i was here I couldnt do much cuz of rent cost. Im eating now but it took a while to adjust my spending, fix some of the debt i had (CC, student loans)

I know people who make 45k and travel all the time. and i know people who make 80+ who cant afford to leave the house.
you know.

I think the most important thing is to never get complacent and always try to move forward. Dont use others as a barometer for yourself. I got a friend who does that, always wants to talk about how much i bring home every two weeks and compare, talk about what saves every month etc etc. Sometime I inflate my numbers just cause it eats him up inside :russ: Dont be that guy bruh. Just try to avoid debt and enjoy life

This is a really good point. It's more about how you manage your money than what you make. For an extreme example, I know a couple who are both lawyers who live check to check. If you have a sensible budget and stick to it, your savings will grow, you will have money to invest, and you will lead a nice comfortable life.

Everyone on the coli making 60k and above :wow:

Some of these dudes are perped out some aren't...but it's not hard to make a good salary especially if you have dudes who do things like Drive a Truck, Weld, military, construction, fireman, It, middle management and etc.

I'm doing alright but it's looking like I'm going to have to start living even more below my means so I can jump on this investment venture with my cousin. I don't have a lot of bills except for the IRS but my wife has the usual. Car note, student loans, CC bills. So hopefully with this investment venture I can start to save up and try to knock some of those things out. Now when she gets her another job then she can really make some money and putting some of these bills away. But then, it's so many variables when dealing with salary. Like on paper you can make a certain amount. But you add in overtime and differentials and stuff and it makes your salary higher with the same amount of hours worked. So that, plus how you are being cut by the government, benefits, and insurance can really do a number to your salary.
