an artist like kendrick can take his time, he dropped s80 & gkmc...
an artist like freddie gibbs should drop more music after dropping a mediocre project like pinatrash

I fukks wit K.Dot.

But the fact that his hardcore are :yeshrug: about him releasing new music suggests that deep down even they know he's overrated.

Y'all should be fiendin for new music and the thought of it dropping in quality shouldn't even cross your mind cuz, yanno, he's so great. :shaq2:

Thats the difference between Drake and Kendrick right there. Drake makes these trendy songs that last a couple of months. 0 To 100, will be played out and forgotten in about a month. No one listens to "No New Friends" or any of that other shyt. It's good for in the moment, but after that :camby:

I feel the same way about Kendrick as I do about Ye. It's worth the wait. I'd rather him wait 2-3 years to drop another classic, then wait a year and drop something like NWTS. Which is good, but not great.

Everytime I go through GKMC, that shyt still sounds fresh. You can get lost in that album the same way you can get lost in MBDTF. And that feeling alone is worth the wait. They are worth the wait because they last a long time. MBDTF still still in my rotation 4 years later. GKMC is still in my rotation. shyt, the Blueprint is still in my rotation. Because when you have classics, people gravitate toward them unknowingly. I'd rather classics than trendy rap songs that are gonna die down. ANYDAY.

kendrick doesn't need to drop freebies to stay relevant

Kendrick doesn't need to make songs for the radio every month to stay relevant or sell albums.

last week:

#97 Nothing Was The Same
45 weeks on charts

#98 good kid, m.A.A.d city
93 weeks on charts

Kendrick been in the top 100 of the albums charts for almost 2 years and drake ain't doing better despite the fact that his album was released 1 year later.

Quality albums sell, Kendrick can lock his ass in the studio whenever he wants, he knows people are still buying his previous album.

Also, Kendrick >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> JAY rock, drake, freddie gibbs, cole...

kendrick is actually the only newschool rapper with a classic, he can take his time for the next one.
no objection here, this nikka dropped facts

Dude got lucky with his first album getting so big and being the "go to" album by "real" rap fans.

For someone who was the most talked about rapper of 2013 to only be averaging 2,787 people per show for the year shows it was hype that propelled that album and not a well built fan base.

Kendrick knows he'll need to pull a rabbit out of his ass to repeat

The amount of people who attend your shows has nothing to do with the quality of your music. Bieber averages 25k people a show, does that mean he's a better artist that The Weeknd? NO

Kanye was selling out Arenas like crazy in 07 with Graduation. shyt had hits. And is an amazing album. But not as good as TCD/LR/MBDTF.

He has a very good fanbase. Not everyone has a Drake like fan base. Drake and Kendrick make two different levels of music. Drake is doing what Kanye did in 07, but for his whole career. A lot of hits, but the quality has taken a bit of a slump. I fukk with Graduation still, and even though the production was amazing, its still not as good of a pure rap album as his other classics.

Drake will never have a classic until he bites down, and stops trying to make radio songs. When every song on your album sounds like it belongs on the radio, you'll never have a classic. Most of the time, the best songs on an album aren't the singles. There is no room for songs like "Started From The Bottom" or "Worst Behavior" on a classic Hip Hop album. Too low quality to be on a classic Hip Hop album

:rudy: at some of y'all puttin kendrick on redman/method man status like he don't have to drop but ever so often
rap fans these days have short attention span he need to do something just to stay on people mind

Exactly. Redman/Method can afford to do that cause they're VETERANS in the game. Now Mos Def and Talib Kweli can deadass waited 2-3 years to put out an album, and fans would act like he never skipped a beat

But when they first started, they were on their grind. Blackstar album in '98, Mos def debut album in '99, Talib album with Hi-Tek in '00
Just like with any artist, gotta keep feeding your fans in the beginning. You gotta be an imprint in their minds before they can even miss you
