Controlling the circumstances is more crucial than anything.

You can work hard, but if your plan or execution is faulty, your progress might move slower than it should or stagnate.
If you depend on luck, you might develop lazy habits that can sabotage your progress

Controlling the circumstances is basically making the environment you're operating in, more favorable for you to succeed.
For example....Your industrious, but your friends aren't. You're basically the smartest person in the room so depending on your character you might use this to fuel your ego or you might use that to seek others on your level or above. Whatever you decide, will shape the circumstances that can determine how successful you may become. A new set of opportunities may arrive once you decide that you need to level up.

All my life people told me hard work plus opportunity created success, but I've seen plenty of nikkas that worked hard and had mad opportunities and never touched the success they wanted. Then I started noticing certain hindrances nikkas cultivated and realized they weren't in control of the circumstances they played in so they were only going to go so far.

I mean, the harder you work the more potentially lucky you get.

Most people don't even put themselves in a position to get "lucky". And then there's people who are gifted opportunities that WOULD make them "lucky" but since they've done no work and are unprepared, they can't take advantage of it.

Hard work>>>>>>>>>>> talent, luck, skills, etc.

You have to work hard and be prepared/on top of your shyt in order to get in position for luck to bless you.

Hard work is more important. Without it, luck won't find you.

If the choice is just those 2, hard work for sure. That’s some sad shyt if you chose luck and actually mean it

Maybe pre-social media you can lean on that ‘we been put in a bad situation’ excuse but now? Nah there’s way too many ways to make money

Even ‘plays’ fully articulated and explained for you to take advantage of like vending machines. Get your CDL and be a truck driver. We now know garbage men make a ton of money, etc. Aint no more excuses and black men quite literally may be the last folk on earth still using excuses

Luck. If "hard work" was worth a fukk then day laborers would be millionaires.
Bullshyt. The day laborers we see are fresh off the boat. However holla at them in 5 years they gon have a team of other cats under them. They gon have a company name and handing out cards

Any contractor I’ve had come to my house, has a house. Ain’t no luck

Above the fray.
Hard work.

You can't control external factors like luck and catching breaks. But you can control the amount of work and dedication you put into your career or craft.

People not willing to put in the work seem to be the 1st ones to point fingers and blame others because they aren't where they feel they should be.
