Getting a concealed weapons permit is much harder here. U gotta take a 16 hour course plus do range time. The course cost like $250. Plus it cost another $150 for the actual permit. On top of that, there are no ranges in Chicago, so u gotta go in the burbs. Thus, there's lots of barriers to getting that permit that most people won't do.
Its a situation that I think should be standardized across all 50 states. We all have the same constitutional rights. Training should be mandatory regardless of the state.

I think mental health care is the problem. And until it's taken care of, i should be able to have the same guns as the military.

And Yall can stop with the "criminals get guns anyway" line.

Proper gun control would stop criminals from getting guns.

Guns don't grow on trees. Our lax gun control laws are what allow those criminals to get guns.

Gun manufacturers make BILLIONS off of dead Americans, but somehow the American people can't see this :francis:

People have a right to be able to defend themselves and their family IN their homes, on/around their property. Should be illegal to carry in public places. Police should be "de-weaponized" too :yeshrug: People living in favelas and slums armed with nothing while these nuts need a rifle to go to red box

Or maybe if we didn't sell military weapons to suspected terrorists, this could have been avoided :ehh:
The issue isn't the weapon. The issue is the wrong person obtaining the weapon.
When these things happen people have a knee jerk reaction and want to see "something" change and understandably so.
Limiting the rights of law abiding citizens should not be the solution.
Of course there should be restrictions as to the type of weapon a civilian can obtain, we have such limitations in place already.
What I feel we need is more government funding so that the FBI can keep better track of these people.
Notice how when we have these situations the person either obtained the gun illegally, or the person was flagged and suspected of possible terrorism but nothing was actually done about it.

The weapon was made to kill a lot of people, real fast.

The weapon did its job.

My question is why we have such an affinity for passing out killing machines to civilians.

Who is the "right" person to be walking around with ASSULT rifle?

That's exactly the solution, where do you think "illegal" guns come from?

No "we" don't. Some places in America you can buy a gun just as easily as a Snickers bar.

They have the funding. They are not allowed to deny these people from obtaining guns. Ironically President Obama just spoke on this a couple weeks ago. They have the ability to put people on a "no fly" list, but they do not have an ability to put those same people on a "no gun" list.

Any semi automatic handgun or rifle can be used to kill a lot of people, real fast. You seem to be more afraid of the look of the weapon and not fully aware of it's operation. The trigger was pulled with each round fired, the same way you fire a hand gun. An assault rifle does not by nature of being an assault rifle fire rounds faster than a hand gun. This is a key point you need to understand. Below is a video of a man firing 12 shots in 3 seconds with a revolver.

You're rebuttal on this point is 100% inaccurate.
We certainly have systems in place to deny people the means to legally obtain a weapon if necessary. The issue is resources being spread thin.
As to who is the "Right" person to own an assault rifle, this should be monitored and determined by the government.
These solutions you bring up show a lack of understanding as to what an AR actually is and how it actually functions.
Every point you brought against ARs applies to small handguns as well.

So why doesn't our military take revolvers into the fights with terrorists?

Why didn't this guy go buy a revolver?

This is some dumb ass gun nut talking point here:smh:

The President of the United States tells you we don't, and it has nothing to do with resources. Yet you repeat the same thing again:francis:
Because the President of the United States tells 100% of the truth 100% of the time right?
If you sincerely believe the government does not have the ability to deny people the ability to buy a weapon I don't know what to tell you.

So why didn't they deny this guy?

And show some examples of other people they have denied.

This is a copy and paste response people who are afraid of guns continually use.
Your point was that an AR can be fired much faster than a handgun simply because it is an AR, which is 100% false.
