You can chalk it up to a "mentality" but the fact is that it's a "reality" and defining a good man as someone who leaves a phat inheritance to their grandkids is both ignorant and offensive to 90+% of this country.
And it's not something I strive for cuz there's few things I detest more than trust fund babies who have no value for a dollar. fukk I look like slaving then depriving myself of enjoyment in the name of saving, just to have my grandkid/kid blow it on a night in Vegas trying to look cool.
Nah, I strive to provide for my kids as they grow up and have enough so they won't have to take out loans for college (that's a huge leg up, I've seen this personally). The rest is for me to enjoy as I see fit (including supporting myself in retirement). Surely, if I amass wealth that allows me to provide a bit more (i.e. downpayment on their first homes) then I'm not stingy, but as it stands now college is my goal.
More of a Buffet attitude than a Hilton one, and
