This rhetoric didn't start in the 90's it has been around since MLK has been around.


Edit: Malcolm gave this speech in 1962 before his Hajj in 1963. After his Hajj he gave up his rhetoric of racism against whites but stayed with black nationalism, saying separatism wasn't necessary for nationalism to succeed. He agreed to work with Civil Rights groups but only those who allowed for the doctrine of self defense.
