I always roll my eyes when someone starts gushing over the "motherland". As far as I'm concerned, they look at us the same way Latinos and Asians do.

There's no universe where *everyone* is saved, nor is it anyone's responsibility to even attempt such a thing.

But I realized that reality in the AME church as a child. It's was mother's day and they were giving out flowers to all the mothers, biological or implied/functional. And a woman asked for a bonus rose, in church, because she was the youngest grandmother and her daughter was the youngest mother in the congregation.
