When the South finally goes "Down South" and never rises again.

Anyways, most of you nikkas listen to the same range if beats regardless, like that is a musically inclined taste to begin with?
East Coast Boom Bap been around since the early 80's, in the late 80's West Coast production took hold, then you had Midland doing their own thing when Common and Twista came out. There was no Trap in the 90's, and began in the early 00's, so how you complaining about the least overused and newest of all trends in beats?

Most Rap you are a fan of revolves around: Sex, drugs, violence, money, materialism, abuse, death, lying/deception, etc.

So why are you confining the average human experience to one region, who was "late to the party" after everyone else?

I'm confused by the OP...he mentions he tired of trap specifically because of the content??? The same content nikkas been rapping about since the 90's:jbhmm:

Trap is more to do with production than content. I notice a lot of these threads from east bias posters who try to low key shyt on the south:mjgrin:

Exactly :dead:

Like rappers were competing for the Nobel Peace Prize in making each other FUBAR? :sas2::gucci:

Kendrick tried to bring the soul and instruments back into the game and you fukk nikkas called him corny. Y'all oughta be ashamed:hhh:

What instruments? Beats are made using instruments by default.

You mean piano, different basses, guitar, synths, horn sections, percussion, woodwinds?

Hm...if you actually are listening to what you're saying,......................:mjpls: almost sounds like what is used to make most Hip-Hop beats regardless of Kendrick's inclusion in Rap. Out of curiosity, if you heard him fart into a mic and it sounded like a rusty trumpet, would you say that was "groundbreaking experimentation shytting all over the game"?

Yeah n*ggas love to shyt on the south while biting the f*ck out of us, Keep hatin b*tches. But i must admit i've grown tired of trap music to a certain extent and sometimes i want that old thing back. Personally i blame the increased easy access to production software for the decline in music. When dudes used to use hardware like MPCs, Roland Fantoms and ASR 10s music sounded fuller, warmer and like it was worth something. It's hard to value a beat made simply triggering sounds in a laptop. There's technically nothing wrong with that especially if that's all you can afford but it think the convenience of software production come with the sacrifice of sound quality.

Also back then becoming a producer was an investment first cats spent their whole life listening to old skool records, memorizing session musicians they liked and just all around studying the way music should sound. Then they would pool tens of thousands of dollars into equipment, MPC's and keyboards aren't cheap and go about perfecting their craft. Nowadays cats are torrenting a cracked out version of FL Studios and going from there. Dudes in this generation didn't grow up bumping old skool and buying vinyl hell alot of them never aspired to be producers they just played with it and got decent at it. So yeah there's a stark difference between the producers and music of yesteryear and that of today.

As someone who has listened to both Cool Jazz West Coast, Hyphy and G-Funk West Coast beats for what seems like too long, it never ceases to amaze me that nikkas over here never changed how the WC sound, and didn't diversify. At least you guys add new elements to Trap, or those super smooth Soul beats, and that's props enough.

True but i still think California is tied with Virginia for the state with the dopest producers. Cali is definitely the best when it comes to engineering and sound quality. And i've always been a fan of the funked out breezy vibe of most 90's westcoast music. DJ Quik's Safe + Sound is hands down one best produced and best mixed albums of all time regardless of genre.

I also love the combo of Kendrick Lamar and Terrace Martin and how they work together the same way Aubrey and 40. But although i love the heavy jazz influenced records i understand how they can be musically off putting to a certain extent and TPAB all while dope, wasn't what i wanted from K.Dot on his sophomore release.

If we can just get a dark, bass heavy, hit filled, non-westcoast sounding album out of them like The Black Album meets My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy i would be satisfied.

It's so much more music out there than what's on the radio breh. And this thread gets made like every year
It's not about the availability of the music it's about how often the shyt gets shoved in our computer screens andnin our ears and all kind of shyt, that's why people don't like the music because the fans are obnoxious

Not sure why down South cats get in their feelings when ppl diss trap. First off at this point trap isnt just a Southern style....its pretty much the up to date nationwide style. Secondly i think most ppl are tired of the actual sound not the content. Its not like Golden Eta MCs werent talkin bout the same shyt a cat like Future talks...now its just more acceptable to do junkie type drugs like percs and pills.

I fucc with some trap but its expiration date is coming soon. Boom bap got old and repetitive, so did G funk....snap music....crunk. There are so many soundalikes and the same ol staggered hi hats, light in tha ass 808s snares and sub bass is played. Only way to tell difference is the producer tag at tha beginning of tha song

Maybe if cats mixed up sounds and styles a little more, it wouldnt be so repetitive....make music for tha ppl not just tha strippers
