Not sure why down South cats get in their feelings when ppl diss trap. First off at this point trap isnt just a Southern style....its pretty much the up to date nationwide style. Secondly i think most ppl are tired of the actual sound not the content. Its not like Golden Eta MCs werent talkin bout the same shyt a cat like Future talks...now its just more acceptable to do junkie type drugs like percs and pills.

I fucc with some trap but its expiration date is coming soon. Boom bap got old and repetitive, so did G funk....snap music....crunk. There are so many soundalikes and the same ol staggered hi hats, light in tha ass 808s snares and sub bass is played. Only way to tell difference is the producer tag at tha beginning of tha song

Maybe if cats mixed up sounds and styles a little more, it wouldnt be so repetitive....make music for tha ppl not just tha strippers
Facts

It's very played out, but it's cheap easy and easily digestible. Terrible rappers can pull it off, and have a chance of a hit. What is even more played out is aitotune, but again it prevails because it's easy to pull off and cheap. Do I Get a trash rapper to autotune it for free, or get a real singer? - autotune it is.

The main issue is trap has become popular at the time when we are seeing a sea change in people's perception of what art/music/culture should be. Things like originality, quality over quantity, and 'high brow' content are not valued anymore, seen as archaic, and in fact railed against. In a form of rebellion of the status quo, we have artists who are unoriginal (using other rappers names), who put out obscene amounts of low quality tapes, generic production, delivered in a style of not caring about rhyming, out of tune, missing the beat etc on purpose - this is in fact their brand and marketing . Today you get more kudos being successful making music and 'not caring' than music you worked hard to perfect.

Trap at it's Bpm range and drum patterns is versatile, and a perfect platform for this kind of expression:yeshrug:. You can rap/sing real lazy in normal time, or spit trash in double time.

I don't think it's the beats that's the problem. It's the same old tired ass content over and over again since the 90s is what I'm tired of.

:snoop:

I wish rappers would start being more creative with their music and less fast food assembly line rappers.

I think I could be one of those rappers with a few more years of development but like it's just so overbearingly hard to get people to give a fukk, the industry bars us due to lack of media star power, and the underground scene is kind of all over the place so it's choosier than ever imo, finding that middle ground is crucial but just hard as hell. I think the key is going to be for them to collaborate with mutiple genres and incorporate hip hop into them

It won't for a long time and i'm glad.

A lot of the most interesting hip hop.. heck modern music period incorporates elements of Trap. Even Kendricks Untitled.Unmastered - the best tunes had trap elements.

Hence the reason why it is called "trap"

Trap ya soul, trap ya mind, trap ya future. No hope for that shyt.

Problem is also our media..
We have zero control over what's presented to the public under Black people's name..we have Jews and cacs controlling our shyt and thats never been healthy for anyone.

it's easy to make, thus it allows unknowns to sometimes luck up on a hit.....more importantly it's easily DIGESTIBLE to the listener.

Therefore, it's not going away anytime soon.
I wouldn't call trapmusic easier digestible unless your open to fukkery. It's definitely catchy though. All the drug talk is a turn off. I only fukk with the beats

The actual Trap sound isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It's not only in HipHop but has permeated basically all popular music.

If you look at hip hop, most people at the top of the game, minus ATL nikkas ain't really on that trap shyt like that

Cole, Schoolboy Q, Kendrick, Big Sean, Logic, Drake, Tech N9ne, Childish

you make a good point though, that shyt is ass and I'm tired of it too, I'll fukk w/ it every now and then though

all these dudes have songs based on the trap sound

Yes, minus the dumbass concepts, sound doesn't bug me

Its the simplified bullshyt that comes w it. Zero effort into lyrics

Gucci said he can make a song in 10 minutes. I can believe it.

I like trap when I'm drinking downtown or a strip club. Besides that it gets no play
