I'm not 100% he was real.
Although she could mean what happened in prison was much worse not that 70% of it was accurate.
I will say that I didn't view him as a "white savior" though. He treated him like a human being, but he wasn't always nice or this good guy to him. Just doing his job for the most part outside of the chia pet deal.

Not as angry as seeing the Raptors win the title
on the when they see us now special she said they didn’t include everything that happened because of how graphic it was. So my take is that she left out the 30% of the too real for tv stuff. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that over the course of several years one person was actually a decent human being to him
