In a sense...people who work in an industry get exactly what they are worth, because they agree to the terms of payment...so if you are a police officer making only 25k a year, then you are worth 25k a year, because that is what you signed on far

In a sense...people who work in an industry do not get what they are worth, because some industries are worth far more to society than others. If sports ceased to exist tomorrow at worst there are going to be a few 100,000 people out of a job, which would be bad, but not world ending, society would survive that and get over it. Wake up tomorrow and no police though...probably after a few days you would have a savage like me in your house doing :demonic: things to wife...society would probably crumble pretty quick...

Also, after taxes, lawyer fees, entourage fees, most athletes probably only get 60 % of that total number...if that

i was puttin it in perspective

the payoff of putting out successful students and members of society is greater than the Super Bowl or any other event

i feel you tho since sports is a billion dollar business it goes 1n1 with how they gettin paid

Successful students loaded with billions in debt forced into corporate droneship to pay off that "education" ?
nba_tracy_mcgrady_amused242_20120424_1369270865.png

And you expect me to sympathize with these perpetrators ?

Seriously though, athletes get taxed half of that income and having a career that could end any day is high risk when compared to a comfy "skilled" career in education

all about demand. Sports is crack and they making nikkas pay to get it.

Well, then when you put it into perspective, it is insane how much money and wealth the owners have. :yeshrug:

exactly. Look into any thread on here or the millions of other sites/boards complaining about cable/satellite and you'll see over and over again "if it wasn't for sports..."

If that was really the case, Why not put that money into schools that can become hone children so they become geniuses and develop revolutionary products or schemes themselves.

Why would a company like Blackberry or Samsung or Anheuser Busch waste Millions of dollars for 30 seconds of drivel and pictures on a TV screen? Why would they waste ADDITIONAL millions to enlist Stevie Wonder or LeBron James for endorsements. WHY WOULD THEY PAY ADDITIONAL MILLIONS just for the right to some of the intellectual property that these people make? Because they generate even more millions.

People on the coli may not care to hear that song, or care that lebron james uses a samsung galaxy note. But for a lot of people...it somehow how works. nikkas are dying over Jordan shoes breh :yeshrug:.

Look at the people on here who constantly fight over Lebron and Kobe who in turn dont even know of their existence. It's ridiculous but tehres a reason behind it.

you can't tell me someone teaching 8 year olds how to multiply deserves to be making six figures and get half the year off.

You dont think many corporations and governments (tax dollars) would suffer as a result? The economy would take a hit.The Media & Entertainment sector might not mean as much to the economy as Financials or even Retail but it will still have a trickle effect.

yea i agree wit where yall coming from

but if we focused more on the first part i think it would benefit everyone overall thats what i was tryna say

in terms of time invested its not even close between teachers and athletes

shyt athletes are more supported than teachers in every way and we all see where this shyt has gotten us

Fixed

  1. The product is only worth what the consumer is willing to pay for it.
  2. The owner will only pay the player what he knows he can and still make adequate profit.

The same people complaining about buying books for $100 will gladly shell out $3,000 court-side seats at sporting events.

Until YOU, the consumer, get your priority straight teachers will continue to make $30,000 while athletes make $30,000,000.

Like i said many times I've witnessed a man wearring a $200 jersey sit there and complain about a $35 copay at the doctors office for his son's injuries. :mindblown:

It is ALL about priorities. Entertainment, social status (ie clothes, cars), and feeling good (ie medication) are at the top of most people's priority lists and thusly that's were the money is.

I agree they would, but not something they couldn't recover from. The lost would be great, sure, but they would just move on to whatever we start to worship instead of sports. Let's say it moves to politics, I have no doubt that Nike would try to "sign" obama or something like that.

But social services? Nah imagine if their was no police or hospitals in the world for 10 days...you are talking about millions dead...inside of 24 hours...you are talking about sending us back to the dark ages...

And what about the various kids that are given a perfect education and still don't amount to shyt because they don't care to?

Even now in school I teach myself damn near everything using my Finance and Accounting textbooks and google. 3.8 GPA to. The professors are useless :yeshrug:.

We start paying teachers a million a year and then what? Is our society going to be overwhelmed with Engineers, Astronauts, and Investment Bankers who are getting paid less than the very teachers that arent capable of doing what they do? No and even if it was it would be a bad thing because we wouldnt have any average people willing to bag groceries at the local supermarket, teach the future kids or handle your tech support inquiries. Society is beautiful that way; it works.

Supply and Demand.

Anybody can go through the motions and learn how to be a good teacher.
How many nikkas can really pull a 360 windmill off, throw 70 yards down a field or hit a baseball 350 ft away when its coming at a speed of 90 mph?

Come on man. When I was 6 years old I used to think the same way you do. Then I grew up and realized that if anything athletes are underpaid.

The professors are useless now, but all the teachers you had since kindergarten helped get you to where you are today.
Sure, a lot of it is wasted, and it could be vastly improved, but the world today is a much better place than it was before compulsory education became a normal thing in most parts of the world.

I agree with the hospitals. Police though...meh. I really feel that it comes down to the amount of people that have the talent of athletes/actors in comparison to some other professions. and the money generated.

I mean if the government was getting more revenue from tax and such...then I'm sure doctors would get more money. Also private practices also can't charge too much (they already do in America I bet) though because then nobody would be able to afford it.

Sporting events however, people purchase the tickets because they can afford to do so with their discretionary income. If the network is making Billions from advertising and the owners/arenas are making billions from tickets and merchandise obviously the employees will demand their cut. I think if you look at it from an economic standpoint then it is fair.

I usually assume that money isn't always guaranteed for a variety of reasons (performance, injuries, contract clauses, etc.), so I take those salaries with a grain of salt. :usure:

Plus, some of them don't know how to act while they're playing, so that money ends up back into the general pool and they end up broke. :what:

The dollar signs look nice, though...:smugfavre:

I was hoping nobody would say that :wow:

I hear you. Still I dont know if it was really them. If they "helped" me then what happened to a lot of my friends that are working in retail or doing fraudulent activieties while I could very well be moving from Toronto to Wall st. next year?

I think it comes down to the person and his/her ambitions more than the person teaching. And even more, it is the parents that are more responsible.

A teacher can try her hardest but if a kid from the jump is going home to parents that arent checking his homework, letting him play video games all day and not showing the importance of education the kid going to fail. Period. I actually don't think that teachers are that important for that reason.
