Where did the myth that The Blueprint was weak/bad lyrically start?

As someone with no side in this “battle” it’s solely Nas Stans who somehow still are grinding an axe after all this time.
Hilarious really.
It wasn’t Nas stans, it was Nas himself that created the narrative that Jay wasn’t all that as a rapper and wasn’t talking bout nothing.

Nas was shytting on all these nikkas heavy in 2001-2002 cuz they couldn’t live up to expectations

And The Blueprint is a certified classic, but everybody know Jay coasted on a lot of the album lyrically. The combination of his swagger, mic presence, and the great production made the album what it is. Plus he has a lot of classic quotables on there.

But RD, all the Vol. series, and Dynasty Hov was sharper bar for bar, flow for flow. It’s really not that hard to discern.

Jays name is getting drug through the mud on social media with shytty opinions like boosie better, soulja boy got a better catalogue by the south.

As a stan of both nas and jay, i find it hilarious that they blaming nas fans

While its always the same 2 or 3 jay dikk sukker on this board with nonstop nas slander.

But on topic, blueprint is a fukkin masterpiece. Even though there’s a weak song or 2

OP scrambled like Randall with his......Cunningham to make this thread.

When I think about Jay's albums, Blueprint is at #3, behind RD and TBA. Obviously a great album and an all-time classic, but from a lyrical standpoint, Jay wasn't at his best. Compare him on Vol. 3 to this album and you can tell his pen game wasn't as strong as it was before. Maybe it was intentional, who knows? Blueprint 2 makes a strong case for it being intentional. But The Blueprint is one of those albums where everything came together to make it work. Ironically, one of Jay's best performances on that album was on "Renegade."

Also, Jay admitted to dumbing down his style at some point. You could look at The Blueprint and find multiple lines that support that. But I know a lot of people think Jay is a good dude and love The Blueprint like cooked food, so maybe I'm just aggy that by 2001, he was getting money like athletes. :hubie:

Breh, you gotta be the dumbest, most ingnorant poster on here. You call anyone defending Jay Z a " Hovenger" (which again is just a dumb, uninspired name to label anyone defending Jay even when the poster isn't even a stan).

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
This here.

Hov's success and greatness is still an issue for a lot of dudes. It's not just the fake so-called Nas "fans" though. It's a lot of losers. They will dig and try to find anything to have some sh*t to say about Jay. Hip Hop "fans" are the most envious and miserable of any genre. Success and seeing MC's flourish bothers people at home whose only job is to listen to the music. Sh*t is wild.

The Blueprint is a masterpiece. Whether the losers like to admit it or not.
This thread is disingenuous cause no one is saying Blueprint isn’t a masterpiece. No one ever said Blueprint was wack lyrically either. The Blueprint was Jay’s least lyrical album up until that point and that’s just a fact. I think Vol 3 was one of Jay’s worst albums but it’s lyrically one of his best. U see how that works?

People use the word “lyrically” and don’t know what the shyt means. The hip hop community in general and even this forum quote lyrics from the Blueprint every single day. I can’t think of a more quoted album besides maybe ready to die. Less is MORE
