Just like Wally Szczerbiak, Jamaal Magloire, B.J. Armstrong, Tyrone Hill etc are an indictment on their respective eras?
All those guys played in the toughest defensive era ever. Wally made the all star team and was averaging 20 back when teams were barely scoring 100. Nothing like today’s weak ass nba

You’re cutting off your nose to spite your face.

If you’re using a player whom was primarily a spot-up shooter (a white one at that) as evidence for the “toughest defensive era ever” then you’ve already lost the argument. He only averaged 20 ppg once in his career, and the season in question when he got an All-Star nod he didn’t even average that.

KD or no KD, the team's ceiling comes down to how good Amen will be. I just wonder whether it's going to be a Mobley situation where you're waiting for him to make an offense leap that never comes.
also Sengun being a sieve on defense affects their ceiling.

the Spurs attacked him constantly in their last matchup and it was very effective. Dude is trash on defense

What the hell do you do with a 38 year old KD then? Trade him after this year?
Supposed to been a plug and play(in place of Green) but unfortunately there’s no playbook playbook to plug into. :martin:

Also Kd compromises our defense. His one on one defense is ok but Houston plays more zone than any other team in the league by a good mile. Kd doesn’t switch well at all. Alpi never switched well.

But I agree with @Primetime . We should’ve kept building on from last year and kept developing the core but Ime grew shortsight and so did the fanbase. After that postseason, Jalen green was public enemy number 1 in Houston. He got blamed for that postseason defeat instead of Ime who failed to adjust to the GSW trap. Draymond mocked us and said the whole strategy was to trap Jalen and make the other guys beat them 4 on 3. They like their odds. He said they got a lil laxed after game 1 with their strategy and he went off on them and then they locked in for the rest of the series.

Jabari Smith still has not elevated yet imo
Jabari is probably the most consistent of the core. What is he going to elevate to? His ceiling wasn’t star. A better system would he tho. More open looks via the pick and pop and more off ball open look but zine doesn’t know what that is or means. I don’t understand why they dont use him as a screener. They need to look at some Charlotte film and see back Charlotte uses that white rookie shooter.

I’d rather have Jabari as a role player than Banchero as a first option.

None of Hosuton core players are iso players(outside of Sengun but he’s not elite at it). But Houston is an iso-centric team. Make it make sense.

This offseason if they don’t bring in a proven offensive minded assistant coach(Malone?), then this team won’t get better. They think they can jsut run it back with FVV healthy and get better results. We’re on pace to win pretty much the same pint games as last year but anybody who watches this team plays knows they’re not a top 5 team in the west
