He didn't kiss ass, period. Big business, and really life in general, is all about kissing the right ass, it can make or break you sadly. You can just sense that Dame wasn't with that, he was about getting him and his team in position, he didn't care if he had to burn some bridges and bark on the crackers and their house slaves to do it. Unfortunately for him, his timid soft ass homeboys and partners couldn't wait for the opportunity to usurp him and start kissing all the rich corporate asses that Dame was kicking for them to get in the door, they discarded him like he wasn't the reason why they even got to where they got to, disgusting.

In the Def Jam meeting he humilated that one dude "thats why the artists punched you out" "your nothing, go clear a sample"

In the jacket video - yelling at Kevin Liles, his kid looks scared and e asks him if he's okay.

He put down people, harshly back then.

He was like 28 years old.

We all make miatakes, but why go at Flex now?

There was an article of him 2 million in debt, now he got 2 million suppisedly by that director - forgot his name.

I hope all is cool now.

It bothers me watching those old videos. However him protecting his brand was right. Like alot said here tho - his hurtful delivert was the issue.

Dame does have immense passion for hip hop tho.

Its inspiring. I wish nothing but the best for him.

Most of the Roc didnt fukk w/ Dame. Cris and Neef was only getting a couple of hundred for shows..

that was on jay.

people didn't like dame's mouth but you cant say most of the roc didn't f*ck wit dame. name some names, cuz i'd argue that there were more artists over there that rocked with dame more.

besides bleek(of course), all we got is the young gunz and maybe freeway. who else? and you see what happened to the gunnaz & freeway's careers the minute dame stepped off. and beans career was over the minute he went back to rocafella later on.

even bleek said, it wasn't the same for the artists when dame was gone, and he was jay's guy all the way.

So how did he handle his own issues with some of those same business people after Dame left?

they were gone by then.

the LA reid era of def jam began around the same time as the rocafella split and jay became def jam president.

Dude went wild over a damn Jacket :russ: Cmon!

It's one thing to not want to c00n, to stick to your scruples and to have morals and principles but he went that hard over a damn jacket. He could have tried to rub shoulders with Def Jam but he went hard against them. I think he took business too personal at times.

it was bigger than the jacket brehski.

they were trying to brand the roc artists as def jam guys and take credit for the tour on the slick.

Dame wanted to replace jay with cam and that did not work

when was this??

you missed a key part in that video that justified his outrage. rewatch it.
He didn't get recognition for his contributions but who cares about that. Let them rock the jacket and speak to folks at Def Jam about that rather then going off and filming the situation.

It's how you handle the situation.

I dont necessarily disagree with you. Bleek even said he had love for Dame. But he also said Dame was bad for business. damn near everyone felt underpaid. The bottom line is everyone had a choice as to who they wanted to rock with. Who rocked with Dame when they split? No one.

It's easy.
Dame let his ego run wild.
Much like Suge, he thought as a Black man (but a ****** to them), he was gonna come in off the streets and dictate to these made industry dudes what was what, and do it as disrespectfully as possible.
Like Suge, they extracted his main asset from him and got his ass outta there quick fast and in a hurry.
To quote Chill Rob G:
"Oh you think you smarter? / The system's older"

This right here. To whites execs Dame was too unpredictable and even potentially violent. Plus he wasn’t the Talent. And he wasn’t about to upset the established way of doing things.

Calling all my fellow hiphop heads!

With the recent Funk Flex/Dame Dash beef going on I figured I'd ask this question. I mean lets be honest, we seen Dame Dash when he was at his heights and he was recording executives, he was cocky, he was arrogant, he spent a lot of money and some would say he was a jerk in some ways.

At the same time, we know that the executives who run hiphop don't want to empower too many other executives especially black executives because then they lose some power and along with that some money. Dame calls these people culture vultures as you guys may already know. They sign artist to 360 deals and pretty much exploit the culture, you know the deal.

So with that said what do you guys think went wrong for Dame Dash? Was he too cocky and arrogant? Did he get ahead of himself and pretty much did he get in his own way?

or do you think the culture vultures broke up Roc a fella and with it brought forth the demise of Dame Dash?

Could it have been a mix of both? :jbhmm: Let's discuss this!
He played the dozens too much!

Everyone can't handle you embarrassing them in front of well known folks

He built up too much hate for him because of it, and that energy prevented him from growing in the game. Listen to the combat jack interview when he was going back & forth with Just blaze.

True, that makes sense too lol. Dame loved talking shyt and not everyone can handle that though to him it's just fun.

You have to be professional and there is more to that then just wearing a suit. Look at this pic

I know he didn't like this though he tried to play it off in the pic.
