Massive disappointment but injuries played an undeniable role in that and he's still a first ballot HoFer regardless.

Dude was the prototypical modern day super fluid/athletic big a decade before they came into style. 6'9 250+lbs with a massive wingspan and all the hops and speed/coordination that kinda frame could feasibly be capable of; basically from top to bottom everything scouts look for in a big nowadays. If he ever bothered to further develop his post game like SVG was making some progress with in his later Orlando years or learned how to shoot/handle/pass the ball the way guys like AD/Cousins/KAT do he'd still be a top 3 big even with all his injuries.

He didn't have those natural instincts for the offensive side of the NBA game like he did for defense and blocking shots so he just settled for coasting on his size/athleticism in that regard until his injuries piled high enough to rob him of the ability to do that at the highest level. And now that lack of drive to put in the work to develop the skills he wasn't blessed with genetically like all the big name multifaceted bigs do nowadays have makes him look like a dinosaur compared to them even though he could and should still be playing right at their level today.

Good but not great career for Dwight and the back injury played a big part in that. There is no denying that his numbers went down immediately following the back injury. Before that he was pretty much good for 18-22 12-14 boards a night with 3 blocks. He has had a decent career probably Hall of Fame caliber considering he's been getting double doubles for well over a decade and will still probably play another 3 or 4 years after this.

A trip to the Finals while eliminating Lebron's Cavs

Left Orlando a year late

But, not a dissappointment when he has like 5 DPOY

dude came in when center position was dead, never developed a post game yet still led team to finals. Imagine if he worked on his game instead of impregnating multiple thots
:snoop: When it really came it he really had 5 kids by 5 women :snoop:

I don’t think he was a disappointment.

DPOY, led a team to the finals, had a MVP caliber year in 2011 and multi time all star. There are worse players that get celebrated. But I feel like his “goofy” personality helped cloud people’s judgement.

Bullshyt. Stop trying to make Dwight out to be a DeAndre Jordan. Dwight had moves he just wasn’t an elite, cream of the crop all time great post player.
Yeah idk why people act like he could have been Hakeem. Some dudes just aren’t elite at certain aspects of the game. At the very least he’s giving you respectable/good defense and rebounding.
