I dont buy the he didnt work on his game argument at all......
That whole “he didn’t work on his game” bullshyt is not only lazy analysis, it’s casual fan armchair analysis. Every player just isn’t able to master a new move they can rely on once the game starts, that doesn’t mean they didn’t put endless hours into working on it. Lebron has put hundreds of thousands of hours into his jumpshot and while much improved, it can still get a bit clunky at times...does he not work on his game? Joel Anthony lived in a spot that was a 5 minute walk from the AAA, just to be the first one there in the morning and last one to leave at night and on his off days to work on catch and finish moves and post moves, yet he has the worst hands in the history of any big man to play in the NBA.

You either have certain abilities or you don’t.

It's lazy as hell as you said. Dwight had bad footwork, nothing was changing that. Hakeem couldn't, coaches couldn't, no one could.

Stick to what he's done, not to what could happen.

"Premier" is a relative term. He's premier because he's a one-eyed rebounder in The Land of Blind Rebounders. Wholetime, it's players in the Hall who average 14 rebounds for THEIR WHOLE CAREER.

As for his defense, he ain't fuccin' with Mark Eaton - who will never sniff the Hall - even though Mark has three things over him:

1. more blocks
2. Played to a Top-tier Division 1 college
3. Showed he responds well to coaching, because he didn't play basketball seriously until he was grown

You can't say outright that Dwight ain't had no better career than them, that's how. If you Hall Of Famer and your team needs a basket to win with 3 seconds left...but everybody on your team, the other team, and in the stands knows the ball is going to Hedo Turkoglu - you might not be no first ballot Hall Of Famer.
Word to Jeff Foxworthy.

Not to mention, Finals appearance and beat LeBron and the Big 3 to get there. Dwight was a mountain of a beast in his prime. I don't think people remember how athlete he used to be when moving. He was jet fast and quick for his size.

I agree Dwight is 1st Ballot HOF and I definitely credit him for that '09 run, but KG was hurt that year. If KG was playing the Celts would've likely repeat.

Both are very realistic outcomes that could happen within 2-3 years unless he has a career-ending injury or falls the fukk off, but that's besides the point.

He's close to 13 per game for his career despite playing in an era where it's harder to get rebounds. There's a reason most of the top rebounders of all time playing mostly in the 60s (and some 70s). It was easier to average more rebounds back then for a variety of reasons. Plus there's still some great rebounders, and even historic ones (such as Drummond & Deandre). Put Dwight in the 60s and he's putting 20RPG seasons with ease.

Mark Eaton? Really :dead:

There was one thing he did better which is block shots and even then he was helped by the era he played in (which allowed him to play much closer to the hoop). Put him now and he'd get embarrassed because he doesn't have the mobility or quickness to guard anyone on the perimeter and he was also a poor rebounder for his size.

And I don't know what playing for a D1 college has to do with it. He barely got off the bench at UCLA :dead:
Dwight went 1st in the draft at 18 yo, you think he wouldn't play for any college program if he wanted to?

Yes, you can since he's more accomplished individually than both of them.

My man what? :dahellbill:

He's not a playmaker or a shooter, why would I want him to have the last ball? That's not his role. Shaq (and many bigs) weren't that great in late game situations as well :manny:

Dwight Howard is not nice, Bruh.

He will still retire and become a HOF player but he could of been an all time great center but it seems as if he never worked on improving his game.

Dude led a Magic team to the finals.

A Magic team. Beat the defending champion Boston Celtics big 3, and a LeBron James led Cleveland team.

He did this with his limited offensive skillset too.

HE HONESTLY OVERACHIEVED BY BEING THE BEST PLAYER ON A FINALS TEAM.....IN ACTUALITY, HE WAS NEVER A TOP TIER CENTER LIKE HE WAS MARKETED

POTENTIAL BASED ON HIS PHYSICAL ABILITY WAS THERE...BUT SO WAS IT FOR KWAME BROWN.

came back in the thread to see some crazy posts.

whoever thinks Dwight is a borderline HOFer is crazy. he is 1st ballot easily.

whoever says he didnt work on his game is crazy too. maybe after Orlando he didnt, but in Orlando you could see he was working hard on his game. you could see the improvement. Orlando was a very good team, they couldve used a couple more pieces. Dwight did what he could.

He basically gets in the Hall by being an otherworldly athlete, on the level of Wilt.

There is no way in hell he is a disappointment tho.
