I have Budden over them if I had to construct a top 50 list of rap artists. And he's a far better MC than half of that list though.

I mean yeah, honestly I don't rank period. I don't even like doing top 10s, I just say the ten I like most.
and like I said before, it's not that Budden is definitely top 50 it's that you can make a strong argument that he is.
Why though? Nobody has stated why they believe Budden is more deserving to be over any of those MCs I listed yet. What puts Budden over Young Jeezy? Because he's a better lyricist? I'm sure you believe he's a better lyricist than Chuck D and Kool Moe Dee too but does that make him a greater all time MC?
What makes him "a far better MC than half" the list?

It's definitely done for sport, with the whole ranking people thing. But if you're not one of my favorites, I can't even rank you. Budden is the kinda dude who I may mess with for a few tracks and that's about it. But then isn't that how we are with like 90% of MC's? Then you have your cats that you're really a fan of, and listen to all the time.
I like his music way more than those people I left on your list. I listen to his albums way more and think he made better songs than them or has a larger discography of dope songs compared to them. If it was just based off lyricism he'd be over 50% of your list. It has more to do with his music output.
Because he's a better lyricist, has a better flow, delivery, cadence, voice, than most of the people listed.

Good point. But if we are going to list them, why would anyone have Budden over any of the rest of those 90% of rappers that we may mess with for a few tracks, but that's about it? Why is he more deserving?
I like RZA's music more than most of the cats on the list. But I can't put him in no Top 50 greatest MC's ever. And I think he has verses that would crush 95% of anything Joe Budden ever thought of. Many people may agree with you on Budden's lyricism but Joe Budden's strengths has never been one of those other things you mentioned. I often hear people say they can't stand dude voice.
See, I'm not one of those people that does rankings based off other people's perceptions. If you like RZA's music more than most cats on the list than he should be higher on your list. I don't understand how it can be any different. If RZA is in your top whatever 10, top 30, top 2, then it should be based off how you judge his music compared to other rappers not based off any of this other nonsense like popularity, impact and all that other shyt. It's your list it should only be based off what you feel not general perception.

That's kinda when personal opinion comes into play. Me personally, I'd have Lauryn and Mos way higher than Budden on my list. But that's just me. Chuck D's one of my favorite MC's of all-time. Now I know dudes say he's not lyrical or whatever, but this is more about the music as a whole for me. The albums and the strength of the content. I can listen to PE any time of day, just like I can ATCQ or a Pete Rock and CL Smooth, to be honest. So if I listen to someone more, that's who I rank higher. There's cats out there who can rap their asses off, but that doesn't mean I'll listen to them more. Emceeing is way more than just lyrics.
