Dudes be really trying to jump dudes 20 spots all time over an injury riddled playoffs :dead:

Just as notable is dudes be jumping cats 20 spots based on one season, remember dudes did this with Kawhi two years ago...

Chris Paul was an All-Timer before this year. He ain't leaping 20 spots based on this one year though...

Bruh it's some people here hypothesizing the same way with Giannis right now. In what world does Giannis deserve to be considered one of the 25 greatest players EVER, if he wins a ring this year?

•I'm not putting CP3 above Pettit, the OG GOAT power forward who was viewed as a Top 5 player I his active playing days, a 2x MVP, went to 4 Finals, and also has a ring as a #1 (assuming Paul gets one this year)

•I'm not putting Paul over Moses, another guy who was seen greater in his era (Top 5) than Paul, a 3x MVP, led two different teams to The Finals, and a ring as a #1

•I don't have Paul over Mailman, a guy who was good for just as long if not longer than Paul, 2x MVP, who was in higher esteem than Paul in his era (Top 5 guy), and went on two late career Finals runs as a #1

•I'm not putting Paul over Baylor, who had one of the most explosive peaks ever, went to 7 Finals, three as a #1 and the only thing holding him from being a champion is the greatest dynasty The League has ever known

•I don't have Paul over Curry, a guy of his own era who has been held in higher esteem, 2x MVP, has a title as a #1 and three overall, game-changing player

That's five guys easy off the Top of my head, he aint clearing Top 20 off this run. To not be so long-winded, I can make similar cases for The Doctor, Barkley, Robinson, Dirk, Wade, KG, Hondo, Cousy, and Walt Frazier, but even by my personal count this still lands Paul inside the Top 30. So no, I dont believe there have been 30 greater players in NBA history, but I certainly believe there's been more than 20. He's somewhere in that 25-30 range and depending on how he closes his career he can reach Top 20 but this one run isn't catapulting him into Top 20 over guys who peaked higher and/or were greater for longer...
It's very hard for me to rank Pettit and Cousy highly as they played in the 50s. Yeah, they were premier at the position, but...it was the 50s.

While he physically dominant I'm not big on Moses one-dimensional style of play and as kept as kept what he did was '16 KD before '16 KD. Doctor left his prime and he never did anything similar since.

Mailman is known as a regular season player who choked in the postseason, this run means CP3 achieve what Karl couldn't.

I do not view Dirk highly enough to say he can't be passed when his 1 ring came off the best player in the world forgetting so, an event you and I as Bron stans have to acknowledge/defend 24/7.

Frazier does have 2 rings but he also does not have Paul's longevity, he was done in 12 years with the last two a clear step beneath himself production-wise.

That's 6 players I either can't put over CP3 or may have a case now but can't be locked in over him after this ring.

Hondo was a part of that juggernaut that stopped people like Baylor and Wilt from getting (more) rings but he does have 2 in the 70s so I'll concede to him as I would the rest of those names. So Top 20 may have been too strong but I don't think Top 25 is.

Edit: Have to add Barkley as #7 lol he was dominant for a while but just like Karl Malone this run means CP3 did something he couldn't.

The only knock on Paul's resume is no MVP but his most explosive years came in a makeup year for Kobe not getting 06 followed by Bron taking his step to be World's Best.

Your proving my point.

What iteration of cp3 wouldn’t improve the phx Suns.

He’s an all time great tier player regardless of rings.

I have him ranked high because I’m aware of his capabilities, he’s been this player for ten years.

Just because your figuring this out isn’t my fault.

if that Lakers trade went through and he won a ring with Kobe why would that change my view or “rank”?

it wouldn’t. It would just mean CP3 paired with the right player would win a ring.

no super team assembled that has won a ring has ever changed my mind about how good that player is.
I'm not figuring out anything. I've known there's nothing from the PG position you cannot ask Chris Paul to do. Your post came off as a knock when apparently it was a compliment. After this it's really just Magic-Curry-Oscar over him.

Y’all don’t apply injury context for anyone else’s runs

And the Suns were the best team in the West all year, great roster construction by James Jones, young guys all hitting their strides, CP3 and Jae Crowder additions, etc.

Yeah I probably could have expressed that a little better.
