No shyt you don't take a knee at 3:40, but if you convert a 4th and 2 with 1:27 left and the other team is out of timeouts?

They scored the touchdown after calling the timeout at 4th and 2, with 1:27 seconds left. Could've just burned the clock.

Ok so make another incorrect assumption. MSU had already used a timeout in the 3rd quarter and used the other 2 in the fourth prior to the 4th and 2.

MSU used the timeout on 3rd down, exactly 1 play before the TD. Sounds like they were still playing to win.

First you said that Oregon should have knelt on 1st down, now you're saying that on 4th-and-2 that Royce Freeman should have...what, bust through the line and taken a knee after he got past the 1st-down marker instead of running the rest of the way into the end zone? So they could kneel with a 12-point lead instead of taking the 19-point lead?

Okay, I'm done here. You're butt-hurt over losing a bet and trying to make the stupidest strategic argument I have ever seen on a football forum. There's no hope for you.

Quote me where I said to kneel on first down.

It's ironic you're calling me stupid when most coaches want the game to end ASAP rather than prolonging it. If you fall down after getting a first down, the game is effectively over, by scoring that TD you put guys at risk for injury for no reason by continuing to play ball.

I remember seeing the Dolphins - Broncos game and their halfback had a wide open lane to score a pointless TD at the end of the game, similar scenario, with no one in front of him and he immediately dove down and ended the game.

It's not a stupid play at all.

Dude was 20 yards from the end zone and there were still guys to beat. And they were only up 3, so a TD means that TD-onside-FG could still beat you even if you score.

You fall to end the game when a TD doesn't do it. Up 1 with less than a minute left, a TD only makes you up 8, other team can still tie. Up 12, TD makes it 19 and game over.

There are a hundred games every year. Your claim doesn't even happen twice a year. You don't see RBs falling down on TDs with more than a minute left just to avoid covering the spread, and no one's running up the score by trying to keep the ball with 2 minutes still left rather than continuing to run it up the middle. Just give it up already.
