Exactly...he got that championship monkey off his back. For whatever reason guys with championship rings get passes no matter what the expectations are (see Kobe/Shaq when they lost to SA/DET, see the Heat in 06, see D.Wade in 10) Beyond that, if they lose to the Knicks it will be all about the Knicks return to glory and Melo's ascension.

He doesn't have the championship monkey off his back. That shyt will follow him around until he's no longer the king of the jungle. Are you telling me that Bron will get a pass this season if he doesn't win a ring?

You can't be serious. Like have yall forgotten why Bron went to Miami in the first place?
Melo doesn't have such a pass on deck and if they lose to anybody but the Heat he's gonna catch it. And don't let the Nuggets go farther than them nikkas. :dead: nikka will get roasted.
Can't you see that's why Bron has the most pressure? He's the yardstick. He's the #1 . He's got all the pressure to beat EVERYBODY.

You're basically saying that Melo has little-to-no pressure to beat Bron, yet he has more pressure to win than he does. Ummm.....

Old heads, come in here and tell us how much pressure Jordan was under during the '92 nba playoffs. Tell us all who werent old enough to experience it how the weight of the world was on his shoulders to live up to the all time greats after knocking off the Lakers a year earlier for his first title

you dont get it. He's already been to the mountain top. There is no pressure to get back there, its expected. It's always funny how things flip flop on the internet. 2 years ago all the pressure was on LeBron in the Finals because Wade already won and 'had nothing to prove'. Now all the pressure is on the guys who have done it instead of the ones who cant get out the first round, interesting.

Not really considering that the media has hyped lebron to being better than kobe and equal to jordan just without the rings. He HAS to win the title again. He has the team with two other hall of fame teammates, he has the role players. There is no excuse for him not winning again.

Lebron HAS to win this year. I guarantee that if they lose people will be shyttin on bron (1-4 in the finals) and saying he's not REALLY with those great players cause he lost so much in the finals.

Melo :manny: he made it to the second round/ecf thats good enough
Durant :manny: he's young and they had to face the heat, we'll get on his back in 3 years time

Lets be real, if Melo wins 1 title he's pretty much set for the rest of his career. If Bron retires with 1 title he'll be looked at as an underachiever

And if the Heat win this year ya'll will be right back here this time next season saying the same thing. bu bu but he HAS to win cause if he retires with 2 rings that means he underachieved :deadimpostor:

I like lebron, I think the heat will win this and next year, I'm just telling it like it is. If he ends his career with one ring that'll be a mark against him.

motherfukkers on e!spn were saying that if the heat win one title they'd be considered a failiure the DAY AFTER they won.

The precedent has been set. nikkas with empty fingers catch waaaaaaaaaaaay more heat than nikkas with jewelry. Does it make sense? No. I'm not espousing this though process but I think I have a pretty good handle on how it works. The best player in the L has lost numerous times throughout NBA history. They tend to get passes when they already have rings. They tend to catch more heat when their fingers are empty.

The Heat are clearly a better squad so there wouldn't be as much heat on Melo if he lost to them but an L to a lesser squad would certainly haunt Melo especially in the 1st round, especially in Denver makes noise.

Is this year the end be all :what: Is LeBron's career over if the Heat don't win a championship:what: Will he never have another chance to win if the Heat don't win a championship :why: Is his career not already validated by the fact that he has won a championship among 4 MVP awards :comeon:

Who said this season is the end all be all?

Is Melo's career over if the Knicks don't win the championship?

Will Melo never have a chance to win if the Knicks don't win a championship?

His career is not validated yet - because he still has the pressure to continue to write his legacy.

All that needs to be said is you, and a few other posters from what I can see want pressure to be on LeBron. Ya'll sound like idiots, the pressure is always on the guys who haven't done it. It's the same reason Peyton Manning is teflon while the Romos and Cutlers of the world face pressure to get it done.

Wait, what?

The most pressure's on Bron because he's the best player with the best team. It's not on the players who haven't won it. What kind of fukked up logic is that? If you're not the best player with the best team, than how can you not have the most pressure to win the title?

Have yall conveniently forgotten all the pressure that he bought upon himself when he made the decision to move to Miami? Like has one of the biggest stories in the history of the league, not been about Lebron and the 'Decision' - and all the future-projections that it entails?

We're still going through that period, what Lebron did last year is only a small percentage of the rest the shyt he has to live up to.

Kobe has had his share of hype, had Shaq as a teammate and never caught a modicum of heat when they copped Ls. Jordan didn't catch the same heat in 95 that he caught back in the 80's before he won a ring. Once you get a ring people suddenly recognize it's a team game when you cop Ls.

What the hell do you mean the shyt he has to live up to? Don't tell me you're one of those clowns on that "he said not 6. not 7. so he really has to win 7 titles" tip. TELL ME you aint serious. Get over that Decision shyt my goodness

What you're saying isn't realistic. It won't happen. Nobody will catch more heat this season, if they don't win a title - other than Bron. You have absolutely no handle on how it works if you think any other team in the league will catch more heat other than Miami, if they don't win a title. Lebron will not get a pass if he doesn't win this season.

This shyt is just blatant revisionist history.

The Heat are clearly a better squad so there wouldn't be as much heat on Melo if he lost to them but an L to a lesser squad would certainly haunt Melo especially in the 1st round, especially in Denver makes noise.

:pachaha:

Again, can't you see that if Melo won't catch much heat if he loses to Miami; than that must mean that Lebron has more pressure than him?

This is what you're stating:

Melo has more pressure than Bron to win in the playoffs
Lebron has more pressure to beat Melo in the playoffs

That doesn't make sense. They both can't go hand in hand.

I dont think Melo has that MUCH pressure, we already know what he is at this point. When his career's over he'll go down as an Iverson, Dominique Wilkins type. A top 50 player who had some moments, great scorer it is what it is.

LeBron is already being propped up as a top 5 player possibly GOAT in the vein of Jordan, Magic, Kobe, Bird, Kareem etc and if you look at those names they all have at least 3 rings. To me LeBron's magic number is 4 once he gets the 4th ring is when the pressure is gonna come off. And now he has NO excuse. With Cleveland his teammates were trash cool, 1st year in Miami, it was their first season together they gotta "gel" cool, now he's already WON a ring, the team is even BETTER than last YEAR. He HAS to WIN and go on a run and get at least two more of these. There's no reason this team shouldnt become a DYNASTY like the 80s Celtics and Lakers, 90s Bulls, turn of the century Lakers and Spurs.
