Who is better pharrell or timbaland

D.O.I. - What roles do you and Pharrell play when making music?

Chad - We really don't have a specific role, but Pharrell usually makes the drum patterns since he was a drummer. He also makes most of the melodies for our beats. I sometimes make the melodies as well but I never write the lyrics. As the Neptunes, I'm sort of like a one man band. For instance, if Pharrell comes up with the drums, I either replay the pattern with different sources, or at some live drums to his pattern. Then I add some sounds to the drums and arrange it for it to be mixed.


Like I said..pharrell puts in all the work

he's basically saying that pharrell comes up with the ideas and a first draft of the beat, then chad comes through and mix, sequences, choose the adequate sounds and shyt.
Pharrell used to be more hands on the songwriting part and melodies with the artists.



Timbo and The neptunes are one of the reason i make music now so i call it even.

kats saying timbaland fell off when he did all of timberlakes new album which almost did a million in the first week and is about double platinum and counting in 2013.

Whats funny, is that looking back The Neptunes did the bulk of Timberlakes first album. Then the whole boycott of Jive artists by the Neptunes (because of the Clipse label woes).....

Timberlake ends up having Timbo do the lions share of FutureLove and the rest is history.

If not for that, JT would probably still be working exclusively with Pharrell and Chad.

for hip-hop: the neptunes are better.

for r&b: timbaland is better by a noticeable margin.

Wrong..mixing and tracking beats isn't making beats at all..that's the sound engineers job..all chad is doing is sound engineering and trying to make Pharells beats sound a lil better..like I said..Chad doesn't really do nothing musically except play the guitar..that's it..that's all..

I love Pharrell but Chad is a huge part of the success of The Neptunes. If P can't fully get something in his head down, he's got an incredibly bright mind in Chad to pick it up and take it to the next level. Always.


Oh but stanning aside, Timbo>> Both dudes are legends in my eyes tho, and I'm more partial to Neptunes/P's production. Can't ignore Timbo tho, he's had a much bigger impact. P is more of an appealing guy people can identify with.
