If no QB deserves it, then don't just leave it at that. Say who deserved it last year and this year.

It's wack to leave that part out. It's like when people say "I can't believe so and so didn't make the HOF/All-Pro team" this year, without saying who in the class/team they would replace.
Last year

Lamar or Saquon

Gonna be very difficult for voters to overlook the legacy/sympathy/complexion bump when Stafford's raw numbers are all either close or better. Maye has an edge on some advanced metrics but when you get into the weeds on that it was against opponents that combined as the 32nd ranked pass defense , while Stafford's opponents came out as top 5.

Brady basically said both players had great seasons but Maye being young will have more opportunities in the future. That's a Pats legend giving you game on how its gonna go.

Rams effectively being the #2 NFC team will make the non division winner thing easier to accept.

Which I think is incredibly dumb and should not be a factor.

As I've said, I do think Stafford ends up winning it. I think there are arguments for both him and Maye, although I do believe if you look at previous MVP voting and the reasons people were voted for, then Maye should win. I don't care too much about the betting odds on these things, and I was going to take Stafford before his last game because I knew they'd be getting his numbers up.

My biggest issue with peoples line of thinking is that IF Maye was in the lead for MVP going into week 18, how does Stafford beating the Cardinals and throwing TD's from two yards boost him ahead? I just don't think someone whose team finished third in their division should win MVP when you have both Puka and Adams while having those numbers. If Stafford was putting up those numbers with a bunch of #3 and #4 WR's and the Rams finished third in the division, I may think differently, but not in his current situation.

If you see me in an MVP thread I'm always arguing about who I think will win, not so much who I think should win.

We gotta accept that in the absence of a clear obvious winner, the MVP is about vibes. Rewarding Stafford and boosting his HOF chances is better vibes than making Maye one of the youngest MVPs.

To Staffords credit, the only time a QB with 45+ pass TDs didn't win MVP was during a year where two QBs did it. And most of those QBs had good weapons.

I really thought whoever won the AFC East would get the award, but I had a blind spot to both how well Stafford was playing & that they'd try to turn this into a lifetime achievement award.

Rams are second in the division BTW, not third.

But I guess we need to exclude all 1 yard TDs since those dont count and are so easy to do. Stafford has 38 TDs and Maye has 28.

Nevermind, lets figure out how to make it look better. I guess we can remove all 2 yard TDs since those dont count in the NFL anymore. Also lets remove the Cardinals game TDs and to be fair remove the Jets game TDs from the week before as well, since that don't matter since those teams suck.

Drake has what something aorund 22 TDs now? Stafford as 33...
