It was a fad and people moved on like they did with other urban clothing brands.

The Platinum collection 2000 and putting Fat Albert on their Jeans and sweaters on some tacky Iceberg shyt that was about 4 years too late.

And then I know those plastic ass baseball style jerseys and hoodies with the names of cities/hoods were hot in 2001 but that too kinda fizzled out quick.

Plus by then Akademiks, Enyce, Mitchell N Ness, Sean John and Rocawear were coming through and LRG later on

FUBU on white people? - Straight Dope Message Board

White people who wear FUBU - MacNN Forums

In 2001,
that's when urban wear really crossed over.
Whites and asians caught on to the Latinos,
wearing urban cloths and head wear such as headbands and du-rags like us blacks.
Eminem kind of killed off wear a du-rag in public,
him wearing it made some whites wear it in public.
Same thing happen with South Pole,
when certain groups come in and wear it,
it's a wrap for us,
it lost it's cool,
so we move on.
Around that time,
Jerseys and Throwbacks came in style.
Then they caught on to it,
then button up's came in style,
most hood people did not agree with button up's,
thus,
Tall T's came in style.
you guys can hate on the black adults and the kids dressing whites today,
I see it as payback.
You made hot,
I'm making it hotter.

this thread just reminded me, man, about a month a go i saw a white dude in a cross colors jacket outside of long john silvers. i was in the drive thru and dude looked he was gonna start robbing us, LOL

he was mean muggin and reaching into his jacket, and he had a durag on.

anybody still wearing hip hop gear in 2013 is probably about to snap

I had a pair of those in the 6th grade. Ran the school's jog-a-thon in them and won. nikkas were salty as fukk trying to say I cheated when I gave them the :umad: while getting my trophy.

I remember dudes at my high school would clown on the guys who wore those 05 jerseys till a group of us saw a kid in a 06 No Limit Sports jersey. Can't believe we were :gladbron: when we saw that though it was another P ripoff.

I dabbled with the Fat Albert gear for a bit before their demise though.

q

:lolbron: Had this exact pair.

what killed it IMO was the crappy bootlegs that started showing up all over the place. bought some nice jeans and a dope shirt years ago but then i remember in around 05 the bootleg jerseys and shorts and the one size fits all "fitted" caps with elastic in them.
