Since when did all-nba teams become the end all be all metric? All I hear about is rings every day but now it's switched to all-nba teams :mjlol:. Pretty big difference between 2 rings and 2 Finals MVPs and 2 DPOY and 0 combined.

Beyond that, Dream played a deeper position with only one spot. Malone could make first team, even with Barkley having an MVP season. Meanwhile Dream had to compete for one spot with Ewing, Robinson, and Shaq.

See below:

I'm a HUGE Hakeem fan, but let's be real....he was pretty much done by 96-97 season. And that's not a knock on him, it's just age and miles caught up.

The real answer should be either Shaq or Karl Malone.

And really it should be KArl Malone b/c he was there at the start of the 90's and in 2000 he was stil averaging 25ppg.

Shaq came into the league in 92/93 - he doesn't get to separate himself from Hakeem because he had ONE more season of high-end production/impact in the 90s.

On the Malone note:

Hakeem's seven seasons of elite impact on both ends of the floor > Malone's 10 seasons of elite impact on one side of the floor.

Malone was pretty damn good defensively. Not a shot blocker, but had really quick hands. He wasn't as good as Dream on defense, but he wasn't Barkley either. Three all-defensive first teams as well.

90-96 is still enough to count. nobody said you gotta dominate through the whole 90s into the 2000s.

Tough one...Dream' ceiling was way above Malone's but Malone was more consistent throughout the decade...but also had better teams imo than Dream. Both had the opportunuity to "cash in" when Jordan wasn't around and they were both in their primes (and I think MJ said that the Rockets were tough to beat for the Bulls), Dream did, Malone didn't. Must say something :yeshrug:

That's true, but again three extra seasons would only have relevance and swing this in his favor, if he provided the same or similar defensive impact to Hakeem - which of course he didn't.
