What was I supposed to be excited about in that video? Was there supposed to be something there that would have surprised me if I saw a good 8th-grade player do it today?

He was hitting open jumpers off of playground-level offensive sets at a 40% clip. Sorry if that doesn't get me excited. And damn, learn to finish an and-1.

1970s was an awful era for basketball. Talent was split between two leagues, 1/3 of the players were coked up, and most of the country wasn't even playing basketball so the talent pool was still tiny.
