I'd say Melo has been the most disappointing out of those three. People are knocking CP3 for never making it out of the 2nd round but at least he often made it to the 2nd round. Melo has been in the NBA since 2003 and has only made it TO the 2nd round twice I believe. I'm not about to give him any credit for olympic gold medals when he is playing with the best NBA players in the world. If I was on the squad I'd have four gold medals as well.

Also he resigned with the Knicks knowing they weren't going anywhere. That's on him. Apparently winning a title wasn't that important to him, if it was he wouldn't have resigned with the Knicks. People knock Durant for taking the easy way out but at least he was smart enough to give himself the best chance to win a championship. Lebron got shyt talked about him for going to Miami but like Durant winning a title was important to Lebron so he left and put himself in the best possible position to win one. Melo didn't do that. He stayed in New York because of the money and because his wife love the city. That's fine but it just goes to show his priorities.

Imagine if Howard woulda stayed with the Magic. That Laker shyt fukked up his psyche and reputation.:mjlol:

He went from MVP caliber, 5 time first team all NBA 2008-2012, 3 time defensive player of year (2009-2011) with his own signature shoe with adidas, single handily getting the Magic to the finals.

People use to talk about him in the same breath as Shaq.

Now breh a punchline, his brand was at all time high you thought he was going be a all time great now his career looking like just a good NBA player for his era.

Bill Livingston: What happened to the LeBron James vs. Carmelo Anthony rivalry?

first few bars of the article:
Whatever happened to the NBA's Magic vs. Bird rivalry of this century?

Only five years ago, the Cavaliers' LeBron James and Denver's Carmelo Anthony were supposed to save the NBA, the way Larry Bird and Magic Johnson did until Michael Jordan came along.

Now the Cavs' big statement games are against the Celtics and Pistons. The individual matchups at the top of the marquee are James vs. the Lakers' Kobe Bryant or Miami's Dwayne Wade.

Bron had higher expectations and more hype AND Melo was still cast as his peer and rival once he won that chip at Syracuse. The Bron vs Melo shyt was pushed and a legit convo until Bron clearly separated himself. How many non-peers get put on TV together alongside the biggest rivals in NBA history?

i

To act as if it was a just couple people here or there having that convo is the revisionism.

LeBron was getting Jordan comparisons

Melo was getting pierce comparisons

Lbs hype was outta this world

A rival is someone who's comparable in terms of skill at one's position or on a rival team. I remember reading a magazine that made a case for Melo being better than Bron a while back.

In all actuality, they were never certified rivals. Bron was always better than Melo at everything besides shooting. I totally understand if you guys want to call him Bron's rival because they came out in the same Draft Class though.

Melo, because he should have learned from Lenny Cooke on how a career is a terrible thing to waste. I hope he wins a ring someday.

No other greats besides Yao, but look at the rest of the magic. Jameer Nelson, a year of Courtney lee, Rasheed Lewis, Hedo, Alston, a past his peak VC, and JJ reddikk. None were bad players, but none of them played much defense or were good enough to be the second best player on a champion. With that context, Dwight had a really fantastic run in Orlando.

Paul has had rotten luck every year seemingly nonstop for a while now. 2013 Blake gets hurt with the clips up 2-0 and they lose to Memphis. 2014 they get hosed badly by the refs in game 5 in Oklahoma City (my opinion is that he league wanted them out of the playoffs so the sterling fiasco wasn't front and center), 2015 in drawing a blank on what happened besides josh smith and Corey brewer raining 3's to save the season, and then him and Blake got hurt in the playoffs last year.

Carmelo plays for the Knicks. LeBron wouldn't have much success with them either. The 2008-09 and 2012-13 teams he was on were the only ones with any real chance to do work in the playoffs in my opinion.

I'd probably say Anthony has had the most disappointing since he's missed the playoffs 4 years in a row.
Honestly this would be my choice for most disappointing career.

It was a thing for one summer after Melo won the chip at cuse. Then it was a thing they rookie yr. Melo fell off his second year then bron and wade passed him. It wasnt a thing after that, not player wise at least. Whenever Bron and Melo play each other, its more about the friendship now its no rivalry and hasnt been one for a long time.

It's basically a way to shyt on Melo on some he aint better than Bron shyt who is
