Adrian Peterson wasn't a pass-catching back 😂 Taylor has a chance if he threatens the rushing or TD record and the Colts win the 1-seed (they are obviously winning that division).

Peterson ran for 2100 yards in 16 games and won MVP over ten years ago.

Taylor isn't on pace to break the rushing yard or td record.

I'd say yes if his production goes up and he breaks records sure, but with his current production it's not happening. And again, you're not winning today as a non pass catching rb.

Peterson won it and didn't break any rushing yards or touchdown record, either. So the precedent has been set that if Taylor threatens those records and the Colts have an amazing year, he can win it.

Quarterbacks will always be favored but this isn't a year that any QB is running away with it. Taylor has a shot.

Peterson won it 12-13 years ago, things are even more biased towards passing now. That's your best example.

If you believe Taylor has a shot, go put money on it and prepare to lose. I don't see how he's going to win it when Lamar has the "revenge tour" narrative but whatever. :troll:

I also don't see the point of talking about "what if" Taylor to breaks the rushing td/yards record. He is on pace for 1700 yards rushing, 23 TDs. Why are records being mentioned at this point?

Fair enough, he probably won't threaten the record on either but if the Colts finish as the top overall record and he maintains pace, the argument will be made that he was the best player in the NFL this year.

I'm just saying he has a chance. But I don't gamble 🤣 and Lamar probably needs to run the table to win it at this point, he not someone I'm predicting to win it 😂

Now being real Taylor is one of my favorite Colts and I'd love to see him win it, but we have to be serious about how NFL operates.

Right now he's argument is the strongest it's going to get. Colts are #1 in division, on top of AFC. He leads in TDs and yards (not taking into account Colts have late bye week, and others be ahead if they'd played 9 already). And he's been the star on one of the biggest surprise stories of the year.

What has that earned him? If you look at the current MVP odds, not a lot. When you could argue he should be the fav right now.
It's hard for his argument to get much stronger from here, barring his production going to even another level OR Indy going crazy racking up wins. I don't think they'll get enough of either.

Incidentally, Peterson was the last player to win it, who was on a 2nd-place team. So like you mentioned it becoming more of a QB award in the years since Peterson, its increasingly become a division winner award.

Odds of a 2nd-place winner are just as low as a non-QB winning it.

We'll see how it looks at the end but if I go strictly off trends of QB-only, division winner, its either Darnold or Baker to me. Baker won the head to head but Darnold has had the better season to this point.

(And on the low, the Seahawks may be the best team in the NFL thru 9 weeks. Elite on both sides of the ball).

JT is going to end up with OPY fair or not.

Matt Stafford I think is a front runner, maybe Drake Maye depending on if they win the division. Sam Darnold might be a dark horse.

Stafford or JT.

Pats are beating up shytty teams just like Lions and will lose vs winning teams destroying Maye hype.

Edit: didnt realize how easy Pats schedule is. They have 2 teams remaining with winning records. Maye might pull away with it if he dont lose those two.

Must be nice to play in the AFCE :beli:

They beat the Bills.
