Why are barber shops so unprofessional?

I used to feel like that but I'm over that shyt. I don't have time to be sitting in the barbershop for hours on a Saturday...
My barber started doing appointments after covid and that shyt has been so much better...
Walking in and saying "how many you got?"
He looks around "lemme see...I got about 8, but its gonna be quick"

If its anything between 11am and 1pm he's liable to get a random drop off of popeyes and then take 45 mins to eat that shyt...

He trying to watch sportcenter and cut at the same time, and going extra slow....nikka its the same damn clips and highlights from this morning...

Don't let some major shyt happen during the week, he stopping to talk about it every 5 seconds, and they got a gang of kids in there trying to get cut for school. And every time a new nikka walks in the convo resets...."You heard about Durant going to Brooklyn????"...Boom convo starts over from the top

I had a few barbers over my years...some I couldn't keep cuz some been to jail and got locked up for reasons like unpaid child support, drugs/weed shyt, etc. Some I could but that's due to them being inconsistent.
Now ima professional but I became adaptable over the years so I don't mind MILD shenanigans like being a lil late or asking u to pick up them some food (they gonna take it from cost of cut or food will cover tip) or even them taking smoke breaks or taking extra time to go holla at a chick. My problems is the inconsistency especially with the cuts and line ups. Some barbers are either inconsistent, fall off or start cutting too much into ur hairline where u gotta take weeks for it to grow back. Also, just fuked up or mediocre cuts in general when u got somewhere to go to that night or weekend. U gotta keep it right to keep clientele.

My barber has his own small shop where he works solo. He’s great, has a couple TVs in there but mainly people are focused on the banter. Sports, news, whatever.
He’s getting up in age though so I’m dreading going elsewhere. Last time he went on vacation I went to another shop and was in there waiting over an hour while guys ignored me. I didn’t know they had online booking but somebody shoulda offered to get me in. Nobody said anything and I was kinda wasting time anyway since I was gonna fukk a chick later that afternoon. Eventually I said fukk it and left.

My shop be having madden tournaments and when the NBA Playoffs start, shop gonna open till like 10/11pm

This is the reason why I stopped going to barbersThis nikka cutting my hair and every minute he has to stop to :
check his phone for a message
make a quick phone call
change the tv channel
change the music playing on the radio
holla at some chick walking outside
See someone he knows walking outside and meet him a for a minute talk
Talk to his fellow barbers

All this shyt happening in the middle of a fukking haircut and he has the nerve to expect a tip.
What’s wrong with being a professional and actually concentrating 100% on your client and making sure you give him the best haircut possible?

Haven't been in years, since I've gone bald and all. But I remember the unprofessionalism since I was a child. This one barber, when I was about six or seven, asked me was I getting any p*ssy. Even though I was young, I was still embarrassed, since the answer would have been obviously no. I don't think any of his fellow barbers even checked him. They had no mercy on us when we was growing up.
