I've only ever had issues with younger barbers (20-40ish) in the hood. Cuts are always fire but I just can't stand spending hours in the babershop anymore, or being in the chair for an hour because of all kinds of phone/snack breaks and shyt.

The best experiences I've had avoiding that is with older barbers, like dudes 50+. I used to go to this old dude named Curt and he was no-nonsense, barely talked, in the chair and out barber. The only time I ever remember him stopping in the middle of a cut was when some badass youngins started arguing over 2k on the Ps3 system and one of them yanked the chord out.

Ol quiet ass 55 year old Curt looked at them jits like:wtf: and ran over there to handle them. I was just sittin in the chair with half my hair cut looking in the mirror like :pachaha:cuz it was rare to see him raise his voice or cuss.

Curt was that dude but def started getting up there in age and I remember this one time he cut the side of my ear and it started bleeding. I was like :gucci: and I swear he just wiped the blood with a tissue and just kept cutting:unimpressed:

His shop went out of business some years back. A lot of the spots i grew up with have:francis:

My last day in the barbershop was cause of a long ass Kobe/MJ/Bron debate
Then the barber taking like 30 black n mild breaks, and the nikka taking a phone call that lasted like 15 mins mid my cut

Dude was a top 5 barber but I was like:hubie:

That's it:hubie:

I used to feel like that but I'm over that shyt. I don't have time to be sitting in the barbershop for hours on a Saturday...

My barber started doing appointments after covid and that shyt has been so much better...:ahh:

Walking in and saying "how many you got?"

He looks around "lemme see...I got about 8, but its gonna be quick"

Nah :camby:

If its anything between 11am and 1pm he's liable to get a random drop off of popeyes and then take 45 mins to eat that shyt...

Nah :camby:

He trying to watch sportcenter and cut at the same time, and going extra slow....nikka its the same damn clips and highlights from this morning...

Nah :camby:

Don't let some major shyt happen during the week, he stopping to talk about it every 5 seconds, and they got a gang of kids in there trying to get cut for school. And every time a new nikka walks in the convo resets...."You heard about Durant going to Brooklyn????"...Boom convo starts over from the top

Nah :camby:

Don't let a fine ass woman come in there with her bad ass kid. "Hey fool, let me catch lil man real quick and then you next. He just getting a lining its gone be quick"....nah that lil nikka want the most complicated burst fade imaginable

Nah :camby:
Man all this is facts. I dealt with all of this growing up, and I didn’t really care cause it was just the black barbershop experience. But now I’m too busy to be dealing with all that shyt. Glad my barber is on point and appointment only. I’m in and out and he’s never late or rarely ever has me waiting more than 5 min.

Yea Imma at the point where Imma grow locs because I can't take the unprofessionalism. I had one good barber good customer service and good cut and can actually do a full beard line up but he moved to Staten Island so I had to find another one.

Found a Trini barber who wasn't bad but had me scheduled for an appointment at 11 and it was raining and 11:30 and he didn't show up, this after always making sure to tip him. So cut him loose no pun intended

Not to mention the story I mentioned in the Brooklyn out of control where this barber I was going to for a year and had a scheduled time didn't say anything when a dude tried to skip me and this almost led to a fight in the street

Work uptown so I found a barbershop and a barber who cuts well also. I booked a session for 5:30pm Friday ( the only time they had available ) I'm coming from the Eastside and it's traffic due to it being nice and a Friday afternoon. I call on the way telling him I'm running late.

Him: Well I'll see but you know an appointment is an appointment we get busy here.

I get there 5:45, I kid you not, the whole shop (Including the one who cuts my hair) is watching Mike Tyson highlights on YouTube. I said he sorry for running late I'm on the eastside. Him "Well I got some people coming and you late so idk"
Me: Yea I work on the Eastside and live in Brooklyn I took a uber to get here as fast as I could

Him: Continues to watch highlights.
:martin:

(Got a email from them during the pandemic asking for support of black business during troubling times :stopitslime:)

Then I go across the street to get some food and the little nikka behind the counter is on his phone and ignores me so I ring the bell, he ignores it I ring it again
Him: "Yo can you wait,"
I walk the fuc* out before I hop back there and pour hot collared green sauce on him and that barber:demonic:

Now I'm with a solid Dominican barber uptown again but he speaks no fuc*8 english, always tells me a time and it's somebody in the seat already at the beginning of the cut he always tried to do my eyebrows, despite the fact that I been getting a cut from him for 4 months and I always said no. Besides that and him trying to give me a Dominican third base mustache the cut is fire.

Sometimes I wish Bin Laden blew this shi* all the way up, but yea this is one of the reasons I'm growing locs

ive only been mad 3 times.

1. this barber stopped shaving my head mid cut and started eating a slice of sbarro cheese pizza. AND i was hungry. and i dont even think he washed his hands. AND there was gun play like a block away (this was in a mexican hood) and why this nikka open the door, slice in hand, to go out and see. wtf. im just lookin like so basically my hair dont meant shyt, we just eating pizza and watching eses clap at each other oh ok .

2. electricity went out mid haircut. now he said a fuse blew out and it was blocks wide, but was it really? or he just didnt pay the bill? i had to go to another barbershop in the city with a half head.

3. this one barber woody, rasta nikka with dreads. he puts the shyt around my neck, im like bet we about to get a fresh cut. but then i dont hear clippers. im like wtf. i look back and no one is there. im thinking oh maybe he went to go clean the clippers or something. he came back 5 min later smelling LOUD. that boy was on cloud 9. that was one of the longest cuts id ever had lol. BUT ill take #3 off the list cause after we were done, we went to my jeep and listened to instrumentals he made and hot boxed, so i give him a pass, he was a coo cat.

I don't ever want to hear anything about keeping money in the community, the black dollar or group economics for you cats switching to spanish barbers

These are the Same dudes in other threads saying" "Cacs won't hire me" "we need our own business" " Cacs at my job is racist"

I never see hispanics pull up to black barbershops

You know what negroes favorite past time is. Dissing anything remotely Black.
