We aren't free with names because the white man throws resumes in the trash based on name

Names evolve if you let them.

We gonna stick with the biblical names....
Then don't raise your kids to get jobs from a white man. Teach them to create opportunities young. Invest in their entrepreneurial education, listen and support their business ideas, help them save and invest early. You can be a DeQuantay Riveris Jones with your own business. You don't have to sit in someone's cube smiling as they struggle to pronounce your name and that's if, like you said the resume isn't trashed.

You get it. We’re indoctrinated from the moment we’re born to assimilate into ‘their’ culture, starting with the name we’re given. We need to break free from that.

The sleepless city
Those "black names" were usually created by uneducated inner city black folk, aka "hood" ,that were copying off one another in some shape or form.... Which in turn turned them into stereotypes, mockery and skits for tv on shows like Martin, Mad tv etc....because now America had an "image" for black people.

One cool project would be to analyze Black American name popularity by class, education attainment, and quality of life over life span if at all possible.

In the book Freakonomics and show they explore Black names and White names and life outcome
Apparently in the book Freakonimics ( Two economist wrote it) they concluded the Black names didn't really hinder life outcome but the best predictor of life outcome was education level of the mother of a child.
Edit: But the book was publushed before the study about Black and white resume name call backs.
They also looked at hospital birth name data to list the top 10 names for Black and White children for both genders.

Not to mention adults are legally allowed to change their names. Whose to say these “black names” make it far into their adults lives?

Some of these "black names" are goofy as fukk if we being honest

Naming ya kids based off of high fashion brands, cars and trending pop culture

A hood mf will name their kid Emoticon Fendi Johnson, I'm supposed to say thats black?

Dog, my cousin almost named her son "L'Amborghini Boss Legare" :francis:

Came to her senses and did the Jaden L'Anthony. It's an improvement I guess. :francis:

Black parents can name their offspring whatever they want, but if they are going to give their offspring an unique name, then I hope they will also teach and support said offspring to work for themselves.

Like other posters have stated, regardless of what name a Black person possesses, he or she will still be subjected to profiling, discrimination and racism. One with the unique name may get their resumes trashed right away while the one with common names make it to the interview stage, then get a rejection letter or phone call.

I believe that anyone who is ambitious, tenacious and resilient will not allow anyone to prevent them from being successful. Those with a solid family background as well as a steady support system is more than likely to be successful regardless of their given name(which could be legally changed).
