Hmmm I would say a couple of reasons:
1) Men tend to have more addictive personalities so more likely to let their addictions get them homeless
2) Women can just ho it up and spread their legs to get a place to sleep

I'd figure women have a easier time convincing someone to let them stay with them compared to a man who would very likely get a "you better get your ass a job" type of reply.

There are more social programs geared towards women, esp those with children, also women tend to hit more targets for impoverished people than men (DV, sexual or other assault, etc.).

Men are, and have always been expandable. That's why most people have a twinge of panic when a woman or child is getting beaten, but feel nothing if a man gets his brains blown out in front of them.
