You dont gotta do it forever. And when you're single with no kids/family thats the best time to get it in and stack up. Social life can always come back
People just won't make the necessary sacrifice. I know it sucks I worked 6 day weeks for 4 months straight so I can clear off some debt with the extra cash. But it gave me that ease of mind of not stressing as much about bills on the back end. Plus at a certain age you realize you're not really missing too much on the social scene.

But what's the point of all that time to themselves if they're still broke and complaining about their station in life? People especially at a young age with no family can get roommates and stack their bread up but most aren't disciplined enough to do that they'll blow it on materialistic things. Or they feel the need to show people that they're living a certain way they'll put themselves in a financial hole to prove it. It all comes down to choices.

One thing older heads need to get in their fukking heads is that the world post 2008 is different.

I mentioned that if working overtime allowed people to make more meaningful contributions into their savings, people would take it.

The fact of the matter is people are in a situation where they're reaching for the moon. If they do the maths and calculate that sacrificing their weekends and evenings will mean they'll still come up short for a deposit on a home after 10 years, why would they sacrifice.

What the younger generation is cutting back on is vices, and good for them. You can't deny that this is the case when there are numerous articles calling them the boring generation because they're not slaving away to put money into the hands of corporations. They have learned from our mistakes.

Thats because them mfers stealing from those who work. How can they make this claim living with someone who works? Unless they come from a generation of people who lived on welfare.

You're right I give people grace to live life however they choose. But also know that you're going to have to do the work....either on the front end or the back end. I choose to do so on the front end. So Ive set myself up so I'm not working hard at all past 50. If people don't wanna do it and just chill that's cool as well. Just know they're setting themselves up in the long run.

I get what you're saying but how can you say that people are cutting back on vices when that's the one thing we have seen explode recently. People are spending more and more on frivolous things and living way above their means to appear to others that they're living this lavish lifestyle but doing it all on credit. I see brehs and brehetts in designer in middle school and that was way out of the realm when we were at that age..a lot of them are the folks that came behind me and this economy is chewing them up and just spitting them back out. They're being set up to fail by their parents.

My lil bro was 19 and had a job at the Amazon warehouse. He was working 3 12s Sat-Mon night making $18 plus night pay with the option for OT if he wanted it. He didn't have any bills no car and my ma paid his phone bill and he was still staying with her. Breh quit after 2 months cause he didn't like that it took his weekend from him and he didn't wanna pay his partner that worked with him gas money to get to work....then had the nerve to ask me for money for some shoes after he quit... Man if I was making $20 at that age :gucci:

Overtime a scam? :dead:

I'm salary so I barely crack 30 hours a week and get my shyt done. But my boy at UPS is at $40 an hour, $60 an hour for OT. He stay putting in an extra 10-15 hours per week. Brings home probably an extra $500 a week after taxes, tell me how thats a scam
Great for short term goals like trying to buy a car, house, etc

Long term…that shyt ain’t it :francis:

Because the younger generation has figured out through hearing and watching the older generation work long hours and wish they enjoyed life more and worked less. There's a balance
There is no balance in complaining & not doing anything about it

This is an disingenuous post. Most of the response are critical of people not willing to find an avenue to improve their situation when they are unsettled by it.

No one is arguing that. What we're saying is if you need/want to work O/T, knock yourself out. Not forever. And this thing about 'making the White Man rich' is a nothing-burger. You don't want to work to make someone else rich, build your own business.

Need more time to watch Tik Tok shorts.

Used to love OT, it was always a fun hang since there wasn't any supervisors or managers around, the company paid for the food so we always got some fancy shyt and extra cash is always good, paid of my first car sooner, got a computer chair I still use and paid off a trip to NY among other things with OT.
