Why can't black female r&b/pop artists get on?

Dreezy would be making real noise if she had a cosign and had a different name.

Just imagine if she was Future's artist :wow:

@jadillac @dora_da_destroyer

She has a few cuts I'm fukking with, been meaning to give her album a spin, but I don't even know if a co-sign works anymore. Beyonce herself needs to co-sign someone

Great thread guys. Just bumping to bump yall covered a lot already
I've been asking myself this for a while now and I don't know the answer. I feel like this should have been a hit song. Idk part of me wants to blame modern female fans who prescribe to this "beehive" vs "RihannaNavy" stan wars bullshyt. Beyoncé only releases an album every 2-3 years so in the meantime what do yall listen to?

The tiara Thomas's, Elle Mai's. Sevyn Streeter, etc should be somewhat "on"

I love this song. :wow: and sevyn is so purty

:ohhh: You are right about this, Nicki needs to as well.

But Cosigns are still everything in urban music. The Weeknd being Cosigned by Drake was everything. Cole with Jay z and so on

This underscores what I was saying earlier - this is SONG business. Word to D.O.C.

Every artist who ever made it in R&B had people make them SONGS that hit.
If you can get hit SONGS off, you eat in R&B. That's always been the way.

So much of the R&B game is needlessly too focused on the image, like rap is.

Ariana is too cluttered in her focus.... She needs to go full Mariah and do some strong ballads

All this wanna be down sh!t.... nah she needs to get heartbroken then sing a tearkerker

Selena is just there besides Lana Del Ray ..

Taylor & Katy are the Yonce & Rihanna of cacs

Where's Miley ?

Not like cacbrehs are eating.... especially if you ain't British or Beiber ...

At we can survive in rap/r&b and switch into the pop realm

but if you are white... :skip:

I would consider K Michelle on. She has dropped 3 albums. While everyone else is still trying to get the label to give them a second one

But to keep in line with the premise of the thread it is rather weird. Look at what Beyoncé and Rihanna are doing... You would think labels would put more resources into Female R&B.

I do think the main reason that R&B lost its standing is Rap got so big and now people mostly want to hear rap

It's hard for a lot of these Female singles to make songs like Formation, Drunk in love, work, needed me that fit right in with a mostly rap playlist and not destroy that mood
Do artists like Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Miguel, Frank Ocean count as R&B? If so, it seems like R&B is just fine.
