Why can't Kendrick just make normal music like he used to.

TPAB was not in anyone's constant rotation a month after it dropped. Even Kendrick stans. It will not stand the test of time

It doesn't have to be in rotation in 2016.....but in 2026, 2036

By the live instrumentation alone it will hold up well into the future....

Unless you sh!tting on Thundercat and George Clinton :hitunes:

If it's already been forgotten now, who the hell is it going to be in anyone's rotation 20 years from now? :jbhmm::patrice:

Even though I get what your thread title means. It reads really strange. It reads like, "why cant an Artist just do what everyone else is doing.:stopitslime:"
I woulnt want to listen to any artist who makes "normal" music. I want an artist to express themselves however they want and let the fans take it or leave it. If I like it then good, if not I'll just keep it moving.

Breh if it has no replay value in 2016 why would it have replay value in 2026 or 2036?

What's wrong with the music he's making now? :what: and what exactly is "normal" music? :jbhmm:
What yall want him to go back to rapping about getting caught in the center of "black on black crime" over trap beats?:mjpls:
Its one thing if your not a fan of Kendrick, thats great. But to say he's not making normal music anymore? Thats when you lost me :mjlol:

TPAB was an extension of Section 80 and it was the album Kendrick always wanted to make. He just didn't have enough confidence or the budget back then to pull it off. On Section 80, he tapped into Jazz but didn't push the envelop far enough and kept it subtle. On TPAB feeling more confident about his abilities, more ambitious with a bigger budget & push he's ever had, bringing the sounds he had on Section 80 back mixing up with a funkier groove and more live instrumentation...this is what you get.

Truth be told, it was out of my rotation for months & months before Untitled Unmastered dropped. But once I went back to it, I enjoyed it more than I did previously and it still holds up. Its one of those albums, you discover a new nugget every single time you go back to it and I don't think its meant to be played like that. Thats what makes it so unique. Just because you haven't listened to something in a long time doesn't mean its wack. Honestly, alot of the current music thats hot right now wouldn't age as well as TPAB even if it has more replay value.

I look at current music as fast food. Its quick n easy to make, taste good, but its also not good to consume on a daily basis. I look at TPAB as sorta like a Thanksgiving meal or something. The food is well prepared, took a long time to make it, taste good, gets you full, but it only comes around once a year. Now that might be a weird analogy and yes I'm thinking about food lol but thats how I see it. At some point, you gotta grow as an artist, push yourself and continue to raise the bar high. Kendrick's has grown into a musician thats larger than life now. Just look at his live performances now...everything is getting bigger and I wanna see how far he can go.

They don't hate his message, they hate his style. They loved him when it was GKMC. Was that not an expression of himself?
Somewhat, to a lesser extent. He said he wanted to drop an album like TPAB as his debut but was worried it would be too different for the masses, so he had to do a more traditional, radio-friendly album first.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
another thing to consider is you don't have to like a song to objectively recognize what it is. TPAB was pretty flawless project in that regard. Example: I'm not a Lebron fan but i'm not going to say he sucks just to be edgy.
:lolbron:

I objectively recognized he picked some wack ass beats for most of his projects after GKMC :mjpls:

The Roots do the live instrumentation because that's all they know and it's always worlds for them. Maybe Kendrick could've got work Questlove to have him executive produce it.... Something :mindblown:

I love his new sound. If you don't like it you are most likely young or just plain have shytty taste in music.

Kendrick is one of the very few artists even worth listening to these days

Straight out the fukkin' dungeons of rap
Shame that some people consider this album terrible.

I love this album and continue to play many songs from it. Not a single wack beat to me. Not a single wasted verse either. I dont mind the jazz since several albums in my top 25 have jazz/funk elements (Blowout Comb, LIKE water For Chocolate, Train of Thought).

Also anyone using "psuedo intellectual" is lame and ironically come across as one themselves, because thats some know it all bullshyt. Not every attempt to rap about shyt other than crime and bytches and drugs is meant to lose the listener.
