yeah but at least in boxing you have a chance to defend yourself

in football at any random moment it can be wrap, and you take way more punishment playing football over the course of season let alone a career, have you seen what happens to these guys when they get older they're just as bad and worst than boxers in most cases
you can't be serious. footballers also can defend themselves or get out of the way, slide etc....
all boxers do is get hit in the head and body. that's it, catdamn breh :heh:

Offensive players cannot defend themselves for the majority of the game what are you talking about

it football you're going to take Hits all the time while in a defenseless position

in boxing your skill level determines how much punishment you take

most black parents rather stick their kids into basketball (you can find a hoop anywhere) or football (pee wee leagues all over ). Baseball is next and boxing, the amount of free gyms in the hood or black neighborhoods have dwindled.

So most black kids get put into basketball and football leagues

blacks stopped playing baseball because

1) it costs too much to play
2) schools don't support it at all compared to football and basketball
3) its boring as fukk to watch - i think baseball's primary demo is old white guys now.
4) even with the money, the marketing and crossover potential is recognized as being worse than hockey as of 2012

This is true; I grew up loving baseball; probably even more than football and definitely more than basketball. The projects that I grew up in even had a baseball field. The only problem was finding enough n1ggas to play, and even then you had to find n1ggas WITH EQUIPMENT to play. You could spend all day trying to round up enough dudes to play a game of baseball. Meanwhile, I could go out to the hoops and shoot around by myself, eventually someone else might come by and shoot with me, then another n1gga shows up, then we might get this game of Utah popping. Another dude rolls through, now we playing 2 on 2. Pattern continues, and eventually we might be playing a five on five full. All this within maybe 30-45 minutes.

But I still love baseball though. My son doesn't understand how I can sit there and watch a scoreless pitcher's duel.Games like football and basketball are better for today's youth cause they are growing up in a time where everything is fast paced and frenetic. I tried to explain the intricacies of pitching and how it's possible to son n1ggas in the game, especially if you Dominican like my n1gga Yung Pedro :lolbron:

This thread is a joke.
Go to the ring if you want to talk boxing. Black world champs off the top of my head Bermane Stiverene, Peter Quillin, Floyd, Timothy Bradley was a month ago and that's just off top

this has nothing to do with the fact that i hate baseball btw :duck:

it's the upkeep of the fields that costs a shytload of money... it requires constant upkeep.... and that's not something that many public parks in predominantly black areas have a budget for.... you can ignore a basketball court for years/decades...and at the most, it just needs to be re-painted or a rim swapped out.

If the actual sport of baseball was too expensive to play, how exactly can poor kids in Mexico,Cuba, and the Dominican Republic can play and Americans cant? :heh:

On top of that, it takes a considerable amount of people to actually practice... you can't just go to the park, or in your backyard and work on things like you can with football and basketball.... you're gonna need 4-6 people to actually work on any type of fundamentals

Because in that area, Baseball isn't dominated by Football - its already clearly seen that basketball is taking its base as well. Also, scouts have pretty much turned everything in South America into a recruiting pipeline. None of the NCAA rules are going to prevent teams from pimping kids out at the age of 12. That changes the entire dynamic.

But its not the institutions that have a hard time paying for it, its the players. Basketball and football is easy. Very, very few kids end up having to buy anything past shoes and a uniform. Baseball though? You're looking at gloves and bats - which come nowhere close to cheap.

gloves can be used for years... you don't need to buy a new glove every season, nobody really ever does. you're not gonna be rocking the same kicks for multiple years as a kid.

a decent glove can last 10-15 years, if not longer...after you outgrow it, you can gift it to somebody...which almost always happens.

position specific glove for catchers/1st basemen are usually held onto by whoever coaches the team. and in the instance that a kid can't afford a glove, the other parents usually had kids who played and will come up off a glove.

kids almost always share bats, unless a parent buys a bat specifically for them....and those bats are re-used season after season. there aren't many leagues,if any that require a player to purchase their own bat to play.

depending on the league, the sponsors provide the funds for things like warm up jackets, hats, bats,balls,tape.....or they do simple fundraisers to fund things.... like they do in football and basketball.

People have this misconception that baseball is a very expensive sport to play, when it really truly isn't...it's fairly inexpensive.

No real system in place to develop the youths like basketball and football. With major sports you have a system from High School > College > Pro to guide athletes to the next step.

There is a system in place, but there isn't really an older generation of blacks, to guide the youth into the system.... most of all of us, have older brothers, cousins, uncles and fathers who played basketball and football... how many of them played baseball?

You don't even need legit baseball fields to play. I've read countless stories of kids in DR and Cuba playing in makeshift fields barefooted and go on to get drafted. I think Pedro's and Manny's background is something like that.

Black people just don't fukk with baseball because it's a boring sport to watch. It's slow, not really exciting, and hitting a breaking ball is hard as fukk. You can't out-athlete a breaking ball.

Cats used to play baseball in empty lots in neighborhoods if there wasn't a field nearby.....shyt, if you didn't have a bat, get a stick:manny:

This type of shyt aint never coming back tho :to:
