By a wide margin...It lacked the coherence, stellar production, intriguing concept relatability of GKMC.

TPABs jazz rap funk fusion did nothing for me (and I love jazz inspired beats) and the albums theme of reconciling remaining true to yourself vs. being a sell out wasnt as clear cut as the "I literally survived my child hood but still carry those scars" theme of GKMC.
this altho I thought the production was good

plus the album was to overwordy, I found the lyricism on here was overwordy at times like a ramble. granted you could argue it was like that to be like a poem and pay respect to legends like Amiri. But I think kendrick executed that poorly.
and not even overwordy like he was adding alot of bars/multis but overwordy in he was just saying alot but not saying much

GKMC he was more direct and I believe Kendrick when hes at his most direct = him at his best.
when hes overwordy = him at one of his worst.

and in regards to a comparison between GKMC and TPAB, GKMC is better than it in everything. Even in depth imo

GKMC had alot more depth than TPAB. Looking back at some of the things in TPAB it comes off very surface level and shallow in depth. But I guess them Jazz samples help create some illusion that its "so deep"

Oh and ending the album on you reading a poem/interviewing Tupac corny as hell.:mjlol:

Im sorry but you gotta cringe even if your a fan, at the fact of that he did that, that shyt from when i first heard it to now still makes me go:hhh:

I can only imagine how sean, or cole would have been recieved had they done this. Given they gotten killed for less cornier moments

I don’t hate it just didn’t think it was very good. Found it annoying and unlistenable but I did like These Walls, Complexion and I, other than that I don’t think I’d want to revisit any song from the album again. The Blacker The Berry was ok.

That’s exactly it. The guy is corny. I don’t hate the guy, he’s just a cheeseball. But he makes his bread and has a lot of fans, so good for him.

I don't know, I thought TPAB had the better story and it carried its concept/story arc throughout the entire album. It built as the album went along. I felt fit was more unique and personal than what he did on GKMC and it didn't have these 2 for one songs with an interlude tacked on.

The same people who hate TPAB says Drake has a classic album :mjlol:
I’m pretty sure you weren’t trying to paint me with that broad brush of yours, but fukk drake, haha. I don’t hate drake either though. I don’t hate any of these guys. Hard to hate someone you don’t know.

It’s not an album for the car but that’s just me. Maybe if you take just the songs and put them in a playlist, but them skits are too long for the most part.
