Why do folks diss community college?

In my area it was called Middle College High School and only the Honors/GATE students got invited. And my dumb ass refused on some fukk boy wanna be a thug type shyt . I was retarded when I was 13-18

The one I went to was on an actual community college campus. You were there all day on a college campus and took college classes with college students. You would take like an AVID class with all High Schoolers, but everything else was college level.

And anyone could join, as long as you met certain basic requirements. Staying in was the difficult part.

Thing is, it was in the center of the hood but I was the only African-American male there. It's sad 'cause I know it would benefit black people a lot but unfortunately I was the only black male in the area who was interested in it.

im speaking from the position of someone who went to community college, thats why i said "its all what you make of it." it can be a great launch pad for some people but the majority of people there are just wasting their time

Basically in my 2nd year of college with a 3.65 Overall GPA in Engineering of all things I said fukk going to class Imma spend everyday chasing thots and partying .What's crazy is after basically a year of not going to class Im still in good standing with the University bc my freshman GPA was so high but I gotta fix my financial aid situation

I would love for my future children to do this. I'm actually looking into this option for a high schooler that I mentor so that she can be more competitive for selective colleges.

Nothing wrong with CC and I would advise anyone to choose this over a for profit college since most universities WILL NOT accept those credits.

went to uni for a couple of semesters then i dropped out.

i don't know about the states but in canada, if your end game is getting a job, depending on the field you choose, the school you went to won't matter THAT much.


what will matter most will be who hooked you up/is vouching for you for the job, what your experience is, and if you fit in the company's culture.

EDIT: and if your end game is starting a business, all you really need is an internet connection and some cash to start up. or someone/an institution willing to front you the cash. unless of course you're starting a business in something where you need to be certified.


I wouldn't go as far as saying college/university is a scam but you gotta go what exactly you,re getting out of it and be really cold about it. as far as bigger school vs cc, i say if it's the same credits and it gives you the same access at the end, choose the cheaper option. most of the learning can be done by reading or online anyway.
