Phat Farm was never high end urban wear though, neitehr was Enyce, or South Pole, or Fubu

I struck nerve because you never had nice clothes and don't know real street wear

all this stuff was not fly

Southpole will get you clowned, it was knock off First Down coat, the shyt was trash

Karl Kani doesn't fit into their category, he was a legit clothing designer but he faded out in the early 90s along with cross colours, Damage, and stuff like that, like I said its a generational

Pelle Pelle is an urban staple been around forever, still around, coogi is an urban stable been around forever still around, mauri been around forever, still around, this shyt is not cheap the brands you talk about its not on their level

You comparing southpole to Gucci to high end European brands, it's not the same, it's not high end street wear like the companies I named above

Kanye don't even wear the Polo stuff he started out with, he converted into that high end euro shyt nobody fukked with, and he brought that shyt into the culture

Wish I could find some Cross Colours stuff now that wasn’t unreasonably priced

Fubu, rocawear, ecko, southpole and the list goes on, but other brands like Calvin Klein and Ralph stay relevant forever.
they are kinda fads in a way, they are famous based off of who is wearing it or what artist is affiliated with it. Calvin Klein and Ralph make quality, stylish clothes that celebrities HAPPEN to wear.

Bape and Supreme ain't really hood wear.......that's nerd shyt for whiteboys and rich Asians to cop and wear. It's exclusive and expensive in that it's hard to get a lot of the pieces, but I wouldn't call it hood wear......how many nikkas in your hood you see wearing those corny Bape tees with the ape on it? Or anything Supreme except the suburban nerd culture that think they hood?

Pelle Pelle, Mauri, and Coogi are still legit hood wear. I also remember back in the day Evisu has the illest jeans. Top quality.
Bro it’s not 2005 nikkas don’t wear that anymore

BAPE isn’t hot right now but in 2016 it was on fire yeah nikkas was in the hood was wearing it

Fashion Trends much like hip hop always evolve and I think that's part of it. Think baggie jeans we laugh at them now but that used to be a wave and many of us wore those.

Fashion Trends die and so do the clothing brands pushing certain trends.

Run Thru U Like Skattebo
dikkies, carhart = work
northface, patagonia, timberland = outdoors
ralph, nautica = american leisure (polo, sailing, etc.)
gucci, louis v = luxury

you have to pick a lane and try to be good at the thing you do. urban fashion isnt picking a lane and the quality of the clothes is very hit or miss. if an urban line would focus on outdoors clothes that actually were functional but had style, they could actually last.

But I don’t think anyone would deny that these brands are just cash grabs

I don’t think Nelly was trying to do anything other than cash out on his fame when he made Vokal
apple bottoms as well, that did have more staying power and was in the lane of house of dereon and baby phat

Champions league
overpriced as well

Should have followed the price point of what asos and boohoo sell their brands for. Instead I remember being a teen and like a rocawear hoodie was like almost 100 and ish, tees for 50-60

Urban culture is dead that's why

People still wear street wear Pelle Pelle, Mauri, Al Wissam, all this shyt still exist

FUBU was never a hot urban brand, they had a popular start, and sold the company, and all the clothes got cheap and were TJ max status

Jay-Z sold rocawear because he was breaking up the roc and that was the end of that it became TJ max status, because that was profitable for the next guy coming in buying who over paid for the brand and has to use the brand to make money while making cheap clothe

The rapper clothings were never real urban street wear

like I said all the staples are still there, it's just this new generation has a disconnect and wanna dress like hipster cacs because they followed lil wayne, and shyt like that, a nikka who could never dress in the first place

and kanye made everyone dikk ride the euro brands, because that's what he liked, and nobody knows how to be themselves or be original anymore
When he was wearing BBC and Bape >

Because it was too accessible
With the rise of hype in fashion nobody wants shyt everyone else can get (with the exception of staple pieces like white tees and AF1s)
Same shyt happened to Blvck Scvle, OBEY, Diamond Supply, etc.

Swizz Beatz said it's cause your fans are the consumer and when your record is hot they're gonna buy it and when your record is not hot they're not gonna buy it.

It's still funny that mad black people stopped wearing tommy Hilfiger because he supposedly said he doesn't make clothes for black people on Oprah, even though that interview never happened. And it actually went out of style all together after that.

Also not everything in Ross or TJmaxx is out of style shyt the other store's can't sell. Some of it has minor defects straight from the factory. I've seen Ralph Lauren in these stores but it's usually the plain basic polo not their higher tier stuff and even at Ross it's still 30 plus . I'm just amazed amazed at how many years fubu stayed in production after being obsolete.
