I thought the point of this thread was why free agents dont come to these franchises. Nobody has ever left their team to go toronto...that is unless you consider landry fields a star:mjlol:
:beli:

There's flaw with this logic. :mjpls:Toronto has almost never been in a position where it made sense for them to go all out for a big free agent. They've acted like a young, building team for their entire history. Its not like they've been around as long as Houston - or emptied out their entire roster to make space for someone like Orlando or New York. You really can't compare free agent signing opportunities like that.

They've never had a "star" tho. The most exciting player they've had recently is Josh Smith and nobody outside of diehard bball fans know who he is.

Well they tried hard for mr. Nash

my question to you bro is what star has left his team to join a team that didnt already have superstars on it?

Look at the sixers rebuilding now, sure they got all this cap space but what star is gonna want to be surrounded by all those youngsters?

theres really only maybe 8 franchise changing players and they all banded up.

the spurs outside of duncan picked all their players late in the draft. Thats what we doing now, we'll see what happens.

besides, I dont want to over pay for a decent star like joe johnson again. I rather acquire assets like paul millsap and sit in the cut waiting for the opportunity for a player like what houston did with harden

My Pops Forever RIP
and this is why motherfukkers kill me with the whole "you guys don't support your team" shyt when it comes to Atlanta. There's too much competition out here in this city for our money to go out and see something with this track record.

WIN FIRST and THEN worry about who is supporting you.

Tell that shyt to cities that have even more competition and still find a way to go to games.

Those cities more than likely are home to franchises that have rich history(i.e Superstars and winning) and aren't apart of SEC country.

Pro Sports aren't part of the cultural identity here unlike a city like Boston, so they're gonna have to work extra hard to get people to come out here despite all of the competition.

ATL…overly
I'm talking NBA mainly. Especially now when players are teaming up and forming "Super Teams". When folks actually come out to watch, Phillips Arena is one of the more unique atmospheres in the league due to the abundance of black faces in the crowd. I would think that players would love to play in front of there own instead of a sea of white faces. And I'm not gonna even mention the nightlife :sas2:. Why is it that the "Black Mecca" ATL is never considered??

There hasn't been an ownership group here focused on winning that can attract top free agents. Yea this is a great city with beautiful women and lots of opportunity, but the team's ownership hasn't been truly committed to winning a championship. That's the real reason

Ownership sucks

The new coach seems like he may have something going but their ownership has sucked for years, now.
