The irony :laff:

7 Google Analytics Certs, 7 deals closed, 7 prime pussies, 7 Series

Yeah I even added one more 7 just to show that IT is for beta males ie. the dudes on here that think it's taboo to approach women :mjlol:

Computer nerd is not a good hustle and never was lmao Zuckerberg was a salesman not a computer janitor

Not sure about yall, but I love my job. So chill. Then again, it's different for me. I get up and go when I need, go on 'coffee runs', check out sites for IT issues, study on work time :mjlol: and even have the military pay for my certs :blessed:

umm... that fool knows the right direction to go to as far as long term career growth if your aspiration is to become wealthy in IT

i'll tell you straight up... i've been at the largest software company on planet earth for 10 years on the services side, and what i've taken home the last 2 years is eclipsed by what my equivalent on the sales side has made the last 2 years

granted there's risk... but high reward if you can make your number

he's spot on
Ok...but what does your boss take home ? What does the marketing director, the CMO, and the countless other sales professionals at your organization that left to transfer their skills into something more profitable make ? More than you...

A bit of a straw man to use your colleagues as the yard stick, no?

The top sales guys at my company could buy and sell your entire IT department..so while we're both telling the truth, it's arbitrary to think your guys represent the elite when every Industry's different and there's bigger fish to fry than software..

Going by your guy's logic that you seem to agree with, I guess diddy was a vodka expert or Dre specialized in producing head phones..or Rob Dyrdek just wanted a tv show...nope...they murdered their first craft first, then diversified..

I get what he's saying, but he really couldn't be further off the mark...he'll see when he's older

ok.

let me make it plain and simple for you. i work for microsoft and i am an enterprise strategy architect. i've been with microsoft for 10 years...in IT for 17 years

2014 i made 260k, and this year i am projecting to make 270-275k, all on the services side

my architect equivalent on the sales side made 350 in 2014 and is projecting to make 380 this year, should they make their number (roughly 400m in total sales)

now you tell me, are you fiscally in my ballpark? if not i suggest you dont speak on sh*t you don't know about

btw, no one on the services side make anywhere close to what our sales people do... no GM's, VP's, EVP's.

Yeah, slightly generalizing but not trying to be all encompassing about the military thing. Just a lot of family members joined and wasn't the same after. TBH, they weren't really fukkups before joining, but mentally weak and selfish. So it just gave those negative traits a superiority complex.

I know a few who were actual fukkups and came out responsible men, who are like you, driven and motivated (albeit a bit more Republican). I probably should've joined to work the system more for education and have my mind the way it is now a lot quicker.

It's hard to weigh the current generation. I think it's information overload for them, and they're dealing with the effects of high PC, anti PC, recession spending, media disinformation, permanent war footing, and xenophobia. Plus the rise of Christian fundamentalism wanting to seize more of their schools. I think they just rebel inside of electronics, the one thing they can control.

When they get motivated from that, I feel they'll really move, like I did later on. The ones that had families that could afford decent supplemental education early have been world beaters. Again, more of them should be mentors, and if rich, just have some kids shadow them for pocket money.

We give up on them too quick. They'll be okay. Not to dismiss your point as it is valid, and what I've observed too. I just listen to them talk on subways and it's a mix. Some sound like they have great priorities and mixed friendships, while you can tell where others are headed.
Great post...I agree with everything you said..

I definitely sympathize with what the kids are dealing with too...seems there's a lack of a true identity and all anyone ever tells them is, " well back in my day" which doesn't help

The military is what paid for my education but like you said, some people change for the worst..my brother is one those people...falls off the face of the earth for 6 months at a time, drinks on Tuesday mornings, and every now and then I get weird calls at 1 AM..the key is not staying in too long and specializing..I did liaison which helped me develop sales skills..it's just comes down to approach

Like you said too, I hate oversimplification and putting my perception of all young guys in a neat little box..I've come across some youth that've really impressed me..there just seems to be a fall out post high school/college where too many don't have a role and think, well Wtf do I do now ?

They wanna make money but don't know how..my whole purpose was to say, hey..do whatever you want , but learn sales first ...cause then you can sell fukkin dog collars and still get paid...you can do whatever you want...and I mean anything

Sorry bud...going the dikk measuring route has no relevance to the conversation...as stated before, it doesn't matter what I make cause if I told you, you wouldn't believe it...much like I don't believe you about what you make

I'm Donald Trump's advisor and make 550 k....4 months ago I was a walmart greeter and only made 7 an hour

It's easy to say anything on the net...one thing that doesn't change though is the message...and mine is as transparent as can be...can't say the same for you though

Everything was a good point, but that was the best. The main problem is kids are being told too often to shoot for the moon and stars, and then they get in high school and realize they can't be or don't want to be doctors, astronauts, sports stars, and other very prestigious positions.

What should be happening is that every 3 months or semester, a guidance counselor sends a memo to teachers in 9th and 10 grade with projections of where the jobs are going to be upon graduation. It should also include international positions. Sessions for prep work should happen following that, so kids will know at least the basics in what to take for what they want to be, but not be unchangeable. It's the knowledge that's important.

11th and 12th should actually see guidance counselors to discuss grades and options, also after school but more regularly, so problems can be referred if children are having trouble, alternatives weighed, specialization for the truly gifted etc. We only focus on the stand outs and near drop outs now. The middle is our economy.

Who wants to go over or under on 70s heroin flow coming back with an ad hominem?

Edit: condescending was a poor choice of words since I went "there" first...what I meant was flexing on the internet

Agreed...this is how Germany,Norway, Switzerland, and Denmark (to name a few) operate and it's worked wonders...now how we could get the entire U.S. on board is an entirely different battle...little Brett and Kyle are "special" though...who are we to curb their imagination ?

It's a sad cycle

Every IT person I've ever known is overworked, underpaid, and complains about the over saturation and stagnation of the field.

Every Sales person I've ever known hates their job.

JOBS ARE LAME.
