where are the genuinely happy muhfukkas at meng:mjcry:

I'm here

What makes a person happy is that he/she can create their own happiness without the influence of other people, and don't look to other people for validation
If a person can't get to that level, they will ALWAYS be unhappy. Period

Because of this, I'm always happy no matter what. It gets to the point that whenever someone tries to throw salt on my game, I end up chuckling, because I know myself. I can look in the mirror and know that no one can stop me in my goals and path to where I want to go

It's absolutely a peaceful feeling :wow:

Social media and the overconsumption of "reality" tv is playing a huge part. You have men and women who live paycheck to paycheck becoming enamoured with 'Love & Hip Hop' & 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians.' People who have to worry about budgeting in order to ensure food is on the table for them and their seed are consuming these shows where the chief issue is some multimillionaire throwing a fit because they got a matte black Ferrari instead of a red Lamborghini.

They log on social media and see classmates "supposedly" happily married and vacationing with a Prosche and three kids in tow. They see them closing successfully on homes while they're still trying to find their footing. To cope, they live vicariously through these people, failing to realize that a lot of these same folks are unhappy and are simply better equipped to fake the funk.

Depression has always been an issue with human beings by nature of the complexity of the mind and the trials and tribulations of coping with life in general, but the constant influx of media has led to many people feeling inadequate and attempting to one up one another. Everyone wants to be a celebrity and a crowd pleaser. No one is really comfortable anymore just seeking their own satisfaction and being Joe or Jane. Most importantly, they are completely oblivious to the reality that a lot of the media they consume is idealized smoke and mirrors.
Damn, that shyt don’t even bring depression, just brings anger and makes a person want to do bad things out of anger.

One thing I will say is when you see all these nikkas getting bread off social media and some making careers after it.

Makes you feel like, why go to school, and even if you have a good paying job that’s 6 figures, some lil kid is making that a month.

It’s like what’s the point of doing regular old hard work when you can be a millionaire in about a successful year with this shyt?

Thing is I gotta get used to putting myself out there for the world to see and make bread off it.

Two words:

Unrealistic expectations.

This. I also think people are becoming more isolated. Communities, which often give people a sense of purpose, are fraying. Social media is in part leading to the rise of isolation.

Also, I think people are just too overstimulated and spiritually hollow. You need time to rest, relax and just think with a clear mind.

It’s to the point that I’ve had people accuse me of being fake just b/c I’m happy.

These types only think sad, depressing soul killing shyt is “real” and anything positive is viewed with suspicion.

WACK! That’s some defeated ass mentality. Sun rises just like it sets. There’s good everywhere just like there is something to fukk u up right around the corner.

Regardless, I love my life and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. It’s beautiful and worth fighting for.
Maybe we need a YEP thread too...:patrice:with shyt like dogs and elephants playing with one another....

Lmfaoo at the last part. We really didn't wanna hear that shyt :mjlol:

Trust me, I know. I was that shyt. Now, everyone has an "issue" like it's cool. It's not. Who would want this shyt? If you really want it, come get mine. I'd rather live in a dream world than this one. And in that dream world my mom and brother tried to kill me. But it's better than this. Mentally anyway.
