your original post about them said they didn't have the talent of previous eras, that's where i disagree and think them, tank, usher, johnta and b Michael cox (as writers) and the rest of their peers born ~75-79 still had that A-tier level of talent, it fell off a cliff with 80's babies :francis:
Dream yeah but not Neyo IMO he's a B plus guy as both a writer and artist.

It's crazy ain't it. He's right his list is "solid" but that's it there's no once in a generation artists on his list. But like I said half the blame was on us the fans at the time we went full retard with hip hop in the early to mid 00s.

this a shaky ass list..bolded are proof of millennials fukking up r&b IMO, from lack of vocals to subject matter, to song composition, to leaning way too heavily on production...nah. doesn't mean i havent enjoyed songs from them, but this is weak. are you really enjoying dudes like drake and tory lanez as r&b? i think acts like that being welcome in r&b helped kill it

That's not r&b to you?

And there's plenty of artists I left off like Justin Timberlake, August Alsina, BJ the Chicago Kid, J Holiday, PartyNextDoor, SiR, Masego, etc.

Bolding the likes of Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign as sub par talents is wild to me. I think we just hear different things if you're acting like these aren't good r&b artists.

Y’all nikkas stay making this thread every month
To run up them :flabbynsick: daps because you too scared to embrace the current crop of male R&B artists
I can provide a ton more but what’s the point
This forum is an echo chamber and just as bad as other social media platforms
With y’all funky hot takes:deadrose:

Nobody knows these songs man. That’s the problem. These people aren’t household names. There wouldn’t be a point in these rehashed arguments if these people were household names.. or at least known to some extent.

staccato rap singing over full samples and terrible vocals aint r&b...Ty is a derivative writer and Jeremih can't sing to save his life, my rationale for why that list was shaky was multi faceted.

you're literally showcasing the falloff (which is usually how/why people say someone killed something) millennials brought to r&b

Yeah I'm sorry but Jeremih and Ty both know how to make good ass music and telling me the dude that made Birthday Sex and Love Don't Change can't sing at all is pure hyperbole. Plenty of folk in the church right now with the vocal range you seem to be solely judging the music quality on but can't make a good song to save their life. :manny:

jeremih cannot sing breh (and he can't perform), no, that's not the end all to making enjoyable music, but it 100% keeps you from being considered a great r&b artist :ld:

Yeah and I promise the average non flab is listening to Jeremih's discography and listening to Carl Thomas's and gonna be confused about how Jeremih is not great when he knows how to put together much better sounding bodies of work:yeshrug:
