Why doesn't the NBA network have good original content like the NFL network?

I've long wondered this. Maybe cause I was always an NBA history nerd early on in life to the point I'd buy all those little biographies that would get released on players talking about their careers. I would love to see shows about history's overlooked players or overlooked teams. I wish they brought back that old ESPN Classic show where they had old players come back talking about some of the greatest games in history. Just really a celebration of the game's history to cater to hardcore fans.

I liked that NBA in the 70s/80s/90s series they did a couple years ago.

NBA has always been great at marketing to kids. Remember how important it was to watch Inside Stuff every saturday to see the highlights and interviews? Then the NFL and MLB copied it...
Indeed, and social media has made it even more popular and with a bigger reach.

The NBA let’s everyine use their content online which is the opposite of MLB and NFL.

The NFL is using telecommunication companies to have access to its content.

The NFL and MLB are far ahead of the NBA in traditional and digital media.

Cause Basketball can't make classic programming like football can.
I was watching All or Nothing with Michigan, then went into all or nothing with the Cowboys this past weekend and it hit me that it's almost impossible to make bad football programming. Friday Night Lights (show and movie), last chance u, Friday night tykes, varsity blues, playmakers. Football programming is A1 can't miss.
Basketball got Hoosiers and White Men can't jump :manny:

You forgot "Eddie" :russ:

You think the exclusivity deals are better? I always felt like those deals hurt them fan wise, great for revenue, but bad for spreading the product.

Ive read NBA didn't take their video library seriously in the past. I mean for fukk sake I believe that Finals title the Knicks won in the 70s is lost and the tv station taped over the footage. There isn't much footage pre 1980s.

The NBA has more of a global reach than the NFL so it makes sense to put money in places that is easily accessible to most people. So, Silver is rightfully putting resources in social media platforms.
