What labels are backing battle rappers? :what:

There has only been one battle rapper in recent history that has got rhymes off the net.

What was the last battle you watched
I didn't say any labels were backing anyone.

But Interscope was suppose to be behind Fight Klub and a few battler rappers have major ties to artist like Tsu Surf rolls with Joe Budden as an example, Drake has his hand in KOTD. Even Shady Records and Slaughter House had the battle reality show and battle event. Daylyt started talking about he was signed to Shady Records. Probably trolling but who knows? Don't know how deep it goes but I wouldn't be surprised at all if some battle rappers were secretly signed to labels.

There may be one battle rapper that has been exposed for taking lyrics off the net but trust me there are plenty who do it. I'm not going to blow up anyone spot though so take it or leave it.

I watched some of the Hollow vs. Pat battle earlier today. Couldn't finish past the second round.

battle rap is the final frontier of hip hop. It is hip hop in its purest form.
It's not about record labels, it's not about who has the hottest producer, it's not about how many IG and Twitter followers a battle rapper has.

:comeon:

Biting and copying somebody's style is forbidden and heavily ground upon. Recycling is not allowed and heavily frowned upon. Battle rappers have no doubt the best pens, the most creativity and are able to perform on big stages.

:salute:

So having said that, why don't you fukk with it?
When they start rhyming over beats DJs spin again, then we'll talk. I['m not a fan of this acapella spoken word form/era of battle rap.

It's boring...they don't rhyme over no beats for the most part....it's more spoken word and alot of those clowns are not good at it...

I think it's boring after a while. There is only so many bars of you can take of insults and boring boasting before you tune it out IMO.

Also the format is almost always the same. Can they switch it up and throw out random beats? I see a lot of them are just spoken word type deals with recycled punchlines.

me personally I think it's boring, and sometimes very corny... also im not into listening to nikkas spit rehearsed lyrics over no beats, and sometimes them nikkas have props and shyt... and dont get me started on the white battle rappers, definition of corny.

This.

Last dope battle I saw was back in 2009 on WSHH with this white dude and this gay black dude spitting over Pitch Black's "It's All Real" instrumental, the black dude was just WASHING this motherfukker with every verse! but the white dude was keeping up with him. It turned into a draw.

I really don't think alot of these dudes can spit over instrumentals like that off the top.

Battle rappin on beats in 2016 is over with bro. That shyt stopped in 2001 :manny:
THANK YOU!!
I can't believe nikkas still hold on to that.

The quality of the new era is CLEARLY better than freestyling over beats.
And I'm a dude that actually went to Scribble Jam in Cincinnati....

But it has evolved into something MUCH more polished.

I appreciate when their rhymes are complex or when they use some really great punchlines, but too damn often there is too much guntalk, it's corny, rapping about shooting and other shyt when these rappers would never do shyt like that IRL. Plus it gets repetitive, its like a mandatory thing to do. Guntalk was never a part of battle rap until gangsta rap took over the mainstream music.

I liked the early SMACK BATTLES that took place on street corners and barbershops with cats like Jae Millz and Murda Mook

The PHILLY street battles were great too with Bugsy and Eness

Now these referee matches with the sponsors broadcasting on streaming PPV is too much hollywood shyt

I miss the RAWNESS of it

That shyt with Loaded Lux and Calico was a classic tho
