Hakeem sneaks in at the back end of the Top 10 all-time players.
I think it's unfair to take his game, imagine what it might be in this era, and use that as some kind of basis to inflate his greatness.

A lot of hakeem's development was due to Moses Malone since he wasnt a scorer in his first year in collage before training with Moses Malone.

Would he still be as good as he was without Malone? I dont know

Man fukk stats

I've never met anybody who WATCHED basketball and actually UNDERSTOOD what they were watching who says Duncan is better than hakeem

Every NBA player that mentions Duncan and hakeem together laughs when people say Tim is better.

Seriously, what are y'all watching?

You negged me and said I'd never touched a basketball because I used stats as evidence that Hakeem was just as gifted a scorer as Shaq? :gucci:

I saw Hakeem play almost since the beginning of his career. I saw Shaq play since the very beginning of his career - I even had his rookie card. I played ball and I coached ball. I could go on and on talking about how good a scorer Hakeem is from the eye test or particular moves, but how does that prove anything? Why you gonna trust my opinion?

I use stats because stats are objective. Even if you disagree on what they mean, you can't disagree that they happened. :manny:

That comment caught me off guard.

I mean, you could be right, Hakeem's offensive game in his early NBA years and Moses Malone's offensive game were pretty similar. Meaning that they bullied their way to the rim, got a lot of rebounds, and basically got the ball in the hoop on strength.

"Throw up a bad shot and then get your own rebound and dunk it" might have been Moses's #1 go-to move. :lolbron:

But Hakeem evolved WAY past that in the 1990s. He was light years ahead of anything Moses ever did.

Moses Malone was still playing for the rockets when Hakeem was playing for the University of Houston. Thats how they start working out together. No doubt Hakeem by working his ass off made him who he is but remember, dude didn't start playing basketball until he was 15 years old so I think Malone helped polished his offense.

But read this

The vet from the American South found a kindred spirit and willing disciple in the Nigerian import. Hakeem’s development over that one summer was so Bunyanesque, it was truly unfathomable.

The rugged battles with Moses, the reigning NBA MVP at the time, forced Olajuwon to dig deep. Those lessons, administered at the highest levels of banging, shoving and pushing, allowed Hakeem to distend his skill set.
Three-Time NBA MVP Moses Malone, aka The Chairman of the Boards, di...

I honestly believe Kobe has a higher ceiling or level he can get to than Jordan. MJ was more consistent obviously. But Kobe at his best could get to a level no other player in NBA history could match. 81 point game, 62 in 3, 50+ for 4 straight games, 40+ for 9 straight games, etc. All those explosions are evidence of this crazy level he could get to that Jordan simply couldn't match.

Using DBZ lingo, Jordan is like Goku while Kobe is like Gohan. Jordan/Goku has a higher base power level than Kobe/Gohan. But when Kobe gets hot, he's like angry Gohan, he has another level he can get to that allows him to surpass Jordan.

I'll take Kobe at his best over MJ at his best any day.

Michael Jordan is Zeno and Kobe Bryant is Beerus

Couldn't even make it past here with this nonsense....say a guy who's never shot 50% for a season is a better shooter than a career 50% shooter.....wow

Just because someone shoots a better percentage doesn't make them a better shooter.

Kobe just liked to take more difficult shots than Jordan.

Shot for shot Kobe was significantly better.

20 years of basketball and not 1 single season of making half his shots.....and all you can come up with is the difficulty of his shots? :gucci:

That doesn't even make sense

Our gawd did this.

Fukk a fg%.

And for the record the difference between 45% and 50% is one shot out of 20.

9/20 = 45%
10/20 = 50%

I'll take a lil less in efficiency for the incredible amount of excitement Kobe brought to the game with his ability to hit impossible shots.

So again....he couldn't make one more shot out of 20 in 1 outta 20 seasons? I'm not asking for much. I'm not even making the claim that Kobe didn't make a bunch of difficult shots.....but it's not the same as saying he's a better shooter than MJ.
