Don't disrespect the gawd. The nikka who mentioned something about Hakeem having the GOAT footwork started all this.
For bigs Hakeem has the GOAT footwork. But overall no one is fukkin wit Bean.
As you may remember, back in 2009 on his way to another championship, Kobe sought out some help from The Dream. Hakeem was infamously helping players work on their footwork in the post and some of the finer points of post play. Mostly, you saw big men spending time with Olajuwon to try to extract any greatness and knowledge they could apply to the game.
Bryant was one of the few non-big men to do this as well. As the athleticism for Kobe was declining, he needed those tricks of the trade to set up defenders and take advantage of their mistakes. Olajuwon helped him out and Bryant greatly benefited from the tips and knowledge. Kobe said after the game Sunday that he just wanted to thank Hakeem for his generosity. He also hopes the younger generation realizes just how great Olajuwon was.
"Thank you. I watched Hakeem so much growing up -- so much of him. Then to be able to come out here and him being generous enough with his time and spend the entire day with him in his house working on footwork, going over every detail in the post. Sharing his knowledge with me. Hopefully this generation understands how great he was. Hopefully they go back and watch and appreciate his greatness. I just wanted to thank him."
WTF was that move that Maxwell pulled at 0:30?
Hakeem with the game-winning block on Jordan.
That Bulls squad was in the middle of its first 3-peat.
That Rockets squad would begin to build the team for its quest for back-to-back championships the following year.
Would have made for a great Finals had Jordan not retired.
We have a younging who can post like Hakeem and shoot from the outside
That's the beauty of the evolution of the game 7 footers can give give you buckets inside and out and got more advanced ball handling skills.
