Honestly I think it's the market he played in.. Also a lot of his career is simply overshadowed by the NBA's biggest stars during his playing days.. I don't think he's underrated nor do I think he's overrated.. He gets his respect.. You basically just want to know why he don't have stans and why people don't dikk ride like they do other players.. Some players just go out and handle their business and don't need the stan wars.. We know how great he was

Maybe to cac nerds like yourself that never played ball. According to NBA players, Kobe is more skilled than Jordan offensively. See none other than the current most skilled/best player in the league: Kevin Durant: Kobe Bryant is 'the greatest of all time,' Kobe and Michael Jordan '1 and 1A'

Kobe is better than Jordan at the following things:
1. Mid-range shooting
2. 3-point shooting
3. Footwork
4. Ball handling
5. Playmaking/passing

Jordan is better than Kobe at the following things:
1. Finishing in the paint
2. Strength
3. Off-ball defense

Kobe and Jordan are tied in the following things:
1. On-ball defense
2. Post game

As an overall basketball player, Kobe Bryant is better.

This is terrible

Kobe is a better ball handler than Mike and Kobe had more range

Michael Jordan is a significantly better on ball/off ball defender than Kobe and Mike is much better at finishing and getting to the rim. Mike has much better shot selection than Kobe

Everything else is pretty close for the most part

Don't disrespect the goat again

Man fukk stats

I've never met anybody who WATCHED basketball and actually UNDERSTOOD what they were watching who says Duncan is better than hakeem

Every NBA player that mentions Duncan and hakeem together laughs when people say Tim is better.

Seriously, what are y'all watching?

Couldn't even make it past here with this nonsense....say a guy who's never shot 50% for a season is a better shooter than a career 50% shooter.....wow

Don't disrespect the gawd. The nikka who mentioned something about Hakeem having the GOAT footwork started all this.

For bigs Hakeem has the GOAT footwork. But overall no one is fukkin wit Bean.

Breh, you do realize Kobe worked with Hakeem to refine his footwork? :dahell:

As you may remember, back in 2009 on his way to another championship, Kobe sought out some help from The Dream. Hakeem was infamously helping players work on their footwork in the post and some of the finer points of post play. Mostly, you saw big men spending time with Olajuwon to try to extract any greatness and knowledge they could apply to the game.

Bryant was one of the few non-big men to do this as well. As the athleticism for Kobe was declining, he needed those tricks of the trade to set up defenders and take advantage of their mistakes. Olajuwon helped him out and Bryant greatly benefited from the tips and knowledge. Kobe said after the game Sunday that he just wanted to thank Hakeem for his generosity. He also hopes the younger generation realizes just how great Olajuwon was.

from Kobe himself:

"Thank you. I watched Hakeem so much growing up -- so much of him. Then to be able to come out here and him being generous enough with his time and spend the entire day with him in his house working on footwork, going over every detail in the post. Sharing his knowledge with me. Hopefully this generation understands how great he was. Hopefully they go back and watch and appreciate his greatness. I just wanted to thank him."

Kobe Bryant thanks Hakeem Olajuwon after final game in Houston

Now, let's get back to the point of this thread--appreciating the great Hakeem Olajuwon.

WTF was that move that Maxwell pulled at 0:30? :wow:

Hakeem with the game-winning block on Jordan.

That Bulls squad was in the middle of its first 3-peat.

That Rockets squad would begin to build the team for its quest for back-to-back championships the following year.

Would have made for a great Finals had Jordan not retired.

We have a younging who can post like Hakeem and shoot from the outside

That's the beauty of the evolution of the game 7 footers can give give you buckets inside and out and got more advanced ball handling skills.

that's great
but he could be getting even bigger #'s
easier buckets in the paint sprinkled with triples for flavor

& kobe did take moves from mike but mike himself was an amalgamation of his inspirations
every player is a varied combination of influences
that's just how the game goes
