Why is currency not on the same level as wiz khalifa (in terms of weed rappers) at this point?

It is what it is. Many people said it "without saying it" in this thread already. Wiz tall, lightskin, got tattoos, and is easier to push to the bytches.

And yea, nowadays sad to say you DO need the look to push units. I hope you dont think all these chicks is buying J.Cole and Drake records cause of their "skill" :comeon:

Wiz aint no pretty nikka tho

The reason is because Currensy lacks that drive and motivation.

You can see Wiz's drive to be a star from "Youngin on the grind".

Currensy is content with being poor, and working on restoring poverty cars. There is no growth. He sounds the same on every mixtape. If you keep doing the same thing, then expect the same results.

Currency ain't poor tho

He didn't even blow till he got with Spitta and started rapping about Weed

Wiz was rapping about Weed long before he linked up with Currensy.

This is from 08. Before any Curresy affiliation. Don't get me wrong, Wiz clearly adopted some of Spitta's style, but Wiz was destined to blow up.. Spitta's co-sign got him a little more recognition but other than that Spitta didn't blow Wiz up

Wiz in general was a beast before his first album. So many different styles and flows. That run from POTC2 to Cabin Fever was legendary :whew:

Only Currensy tapes that could really even match up to that were the Pilot Talk series, Smokee Robinson, n This Aint No Mixtape.

That's one of my favorite runs for a rapper ever. Also the time it happened I was right in the middle of college and smoked a lot.

Now even though I don't smoke nearly as much I listen to Spitta way more than I did. Can't really listen to Wiz anymore, the music just seems really hollow even though the content might've stayed the same.

Wiz has always been the more marketable artist. I always felt like he was gonna blow up. You can go one of two ways when you get mainstream, the Wiz route or the Kendrick route. You get a whole bunch of new fans and you change your music to fit it, or you get a bunch of new fans, your sh1t stays relatively the same and you're remain recognized for that style.

Curren$y doesn't do it to that scale because his core fans already like who he is and what he's doing. An understated artist like Curren$y gives it a different type of appeal than a huge, intangible rap star. I think that resonates with him and his fans.

The live show aspect is another difference. I saw Spitta at the House of Blues a little over a year ago and the smaller venue can be better for a rapper like him. Everybody gets close to the stage and raps all the words. Same thing with TDE and A$AP before they got big. The smaller venue shows are a better atmosphere when they're still underground.

They both rap about weed often, but they make different type of music. Mac Miller is closer to currency than Wiz.

the better question is why Wiz is still popular? both of his albums flopped commercially and critically. He's more known for his clothing/tattoos/style, chilling with Snoop, and wifing Amber Rose than his music.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Wiz just more marketable. Better looking, catchy flows, pre future-melodic hooks, accesible music etc.

I always find it funny how on the internet, people always attach "underground" with more skills. NO. Currensy did not blow not because he wants to stay "underground" or not "sell out"(Aint he signed to warner anyways?), Its cause he dont got the look, nor does he make easy accesible music.

Wiz had bangers bout girls, money, weed n cars waaaay before he met Spitta. Wiz and spitta are more equal to each other than people give credit for.

Shoot one could even make the arguement that Wiz Khalifa overall has a better discography than Currensy.

Wiz does NOT have a better catalog than Curren$y..

Because he still has a more supportive fanbase than most rappers putting out better music and more commercially in the spot light.

He can still perform to a nice sized crowd..him and Rockys tour was pretty popular amongst the white college crowd. White people, even if they dont like your current music, all that much theyll still go to see you because of the atmosphere and good time they had of seeing you in the past (nostalgic purposes) and they know youre going to play a few older songs..or just cause their friend whos a fan invited them to go and they obliged.
