Why is soccer the world's sport?

the cool thing about soccer is you're not as limited by height or athleticism like other sports.

in soccer you have superstars from 5-7 to 6-5. not every kid can grow up to be 6-8 240 like lebron james or 6-5 250 like cam newton. not every kid will grow up to run a 4-4 40.

Another fact that is often overlooked:

Soccer is like the most "grassroots" sports ever. You and your friends can start a team and you're already in the same system as Messi and Ronaldo. There's no closed leagues or franchises (in Europe at least). It's theoretically possible to start a team in the lowest league and play Champions League ~10 years later which makes the sport special, I believe.

Also: Soccer is so deeply ingrained in the minds of Euros because every shytty town has its own team (that's part of the same pyramid)

You don't even need a ball to play it.

In school we used to play with a flattened soda can in the hallways whenever someone lost or punctured a ball. When you made it passed someone using a fukking soda can you knew that you were either really good or the guy you just passed was completely useless

Back then it wasn't as easy to afford a decent ball so people were always about taking one to school so someone could fukk it up. We had to play with anything that could be kicked I remember wasting a shyt ton of scotch tape over dozens of blank pages so we could make a decent shaped "paper ball" to play during brakes.

Then when you actually played with a real ball in a nice pitch you could wreck shyt up

1. any kind of ball
2. two soda cans to make a goal

now think about what you need to play every other sport. you can't play hockey in the slums of brazil.

3. It's one of the sports you can work on your game by yourself.

Soccer is real football and all kids outside of America play it. Takes agility and brains unlike contact sports and not homoerotic like American football. Its probably because most Americans are too fat to play.

Well, get use to it, because soccer is here to stay. It has arrived because folks are complaining that there's nothing to watch other than soccer or there are soccer matches on every channel. It's going to get worse too. Bundesliga (German League) soccer is coming to Fox Sports Network in August along with the Gold Cup as soon as the Women's World Cup is over.

Soccer is 365 day/year sport and more games are broadcasted than the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL... combined.
