It wasnt. Your going off of goofy advanced analytics that nobody follows. In terms of field goal percentage, its his 5th or 6th best year.
Since I was responding to Poitier, and since he used True Shooting % before I did, I'm pretty sure using TS% isn't "goofy analytics that no one follows."
TS% is just acknowledging that threes are worth more than twos. If that's "goofy advanced analytics", then you must think slugging percentage is wizardry. And if you think nobody uses it, you're clueless. TS% is the easiest way to quickly see how much better DeRozan going 9-18 on twos is inferior to Curry going 5-10 on twos and 3-8 on threes.
And to complain about goofy advanced analytics just because it accounts for twos and threes, while commenting on a thread that's all about dividing the entire court up in FIVE different zones, is ironic. And dumb.
And if you don't like "goofy advanced analytics", I'll break it down in slow motion for you.
In 2013 Kobe shot 51.0% on twos. That was the best he had ever shot on twos in his entire career, 1.3% better than his 2nd best and 3.1% better than his average.
In 2013 Kobe shot 32.4% on threes. That was only 0.5% lower than his career average of 32.9%.
Thus, 2013 was an average year for threes and a fantastic year for twos for Kobe, so he should at LEAST have an average shooting chart.
If your argument is that Kobe ONLY has a great-looking shooting chart in his "peak" years, which I guess must be 2007-2010, then I hate to break it to you. Lebron has a great-looking shooting chart in his peak years two. In fact, Lebron's four-year peak looks BETTER than any Kobe four-year run in terms of shooting outside the key.
Stick to sucking Lebron off, which is sad since you're an LA nikka. You dont know shyt about Kobe. His best seasons were 2001, 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2009. Nobody in their right mind gonna say 2013. He barely had lift in his legs by 2013 to shoot, his defense was gone, couldn't keep up with faster younger players and looked like he was pulling a hamstring everytime he went to dunk. He was getting by purely off skill by then. This shouldn't be a surprise to you...he scored 60 points in his last game as a 37 year old geezer.
Yeah, that's a whole load of bullshyt written after the fact. NO ONE was saying those things about Kobe before or during the season except that his defense was gone. I already gave you the receipts with LA fans saying he was having a fantastic year shooting.
Now, of course his defense was gone. It had been going for years. And he had less explosion near the hoop. But that has NOTHING to do with his shooting %'s. I didn't say it was his best year overall, I said it was one of his best years in shooting %, and that's a verifyable fact. NO ONE has been able to explain how Kobe could shoot an above-average % that year and yet have a below average shooting chart, especially when the place he would have suffered most is AT THE RIM.
